I live in Krugersdorp.. and my iburst never goes down accept when i shut it down.

BUT

My friend lives in Edenvale and like me her iBurst is spread throughout the house with a wireless router. but her net drops every now and then... even when we chat over msn or skype it happens (it just disconnects from the net)

I will not be able to tell you what kind of router because she isn't much of a computer person and wont be able to check for me.(i know that a iburst tekkie did the whole setup) and it is a usb modem.

//if this is any help i've noticed that when i try and send a file to her or even play one of those games on msn that her net drops.

Please help THANX

My Iburst also drops occaionally.. on MSn especially, even though my whole connection doesnt always drop.

Um.. as sy 'n UBS modem besit, hoe is 'n router set-up moontlik?

MTU?

dink jy dis miskien net iburst wat so bietjie vir 'n bol *** gaan.

want dit gebeur al baie lank. en laas week was haar net heeltemal af gewees

ID10T & Ekhaat: if the firewall on your routers are enabled you can try configuring a DMZ for the client PC requiring unrestricted access.Maybe configure QoS on your routers for specifc applications like MSN if you want. I use it for VoIP for instance. I had problems with my MSN and enabled that or you could try enabling port triggers although I doubt msn uses multiple ports.....I'm not Microsoft so....sorry guys

all of these are pretty straight forward if you need assistance PM me.

What is her signal strength and more importantly signal quality? First update the device firmware as a prmary solution.

As a secondary soluton:Use utTraceStarr to check the signal, connect the iBurst device directly to a PC, switch it off and then on, after a few seconds. don't connect to the internet just run utTrace star to measure the signal at device idle. figures of -92 to -88 are ideal with just the UTD & figures of -88 or more, i.e. -85 ,-82, -79 ,etc should be stable with antenna, try and fine a sweetspot and leave it there.

Next check that the router MTU is set at 1352 *dunno if you mentioned it but i'm typing already so if it a duplication sorry*, check and see if that works perfectly.

if you continue to have problems try enabling a DMZ for her PC take the IP that was assigned by the router to her PC and mate it to the dynamic IP that iBurst assigns, if you still have problems note the iBurst IP address on the router at the time of the problem and take as much detail down as you can.....there seems to have been problems over the weekend, with dead IP's or dead DHCP IP scopes which I am still angrily  awaiting iBurst to come back to me about!. This seems to be resolved *for now*....so perhaps her problems are gone without any config neccessary, but do chek that device signal and the firmware.

Hope it all works out.

If you don't manage to come right request someone IT competent to come and assist you try iBurst direct hopefully they will help you out as well.

my signal is great as u know dom, but my router seem to mess out every now and again...Linksys WRTG v5 anyone else with my router having the same issue....

Um.. i htink thats the router most people have bunny.. shouldnt have a problem with it..

btw.. i let some guy into ur clan the other night on battle.net he just kept asking and said he just wanted to see how it is??
I let him and he actually left, dont worry... but you ping was amazing! Mine sucks.. when the new tower comes up Im gonna set up my modem properly with that UT Trace star and evrything..

Pings on battle.net mean nothing

Ekhaatvensters you said yourself that pings mean nothing on battle.net. The other day i got 49 and i've also gotten over 1000 and games play the same.

yea my pings are great but my ROUTER OMG...its SUCKS....im sending ti back to broadband express...BTW BUY BUY **** FROM BROADBAND EXPRESS NOT EVEN IF THEY ARE THE LAST COMPANY ON EARTH.....KEEP UR MONEY AND LIVE WITH 56K TRUST ME U WONT REGRET IT....BUT BROADBAND HOLDINGS COOL...BUT IM SEND THIS PIECE OF **** BACK....AHHH!RAWR....

wow. dagga.

hey anti! yah those do mean nothing because they take one ping from one second and dont update it for like a few hours, whihc is okay if your on ADSL because your ping stays prety much the same, but on Iburst they could just catch a good or bad spot, so it doesnt help really..
But 55ms is really good, even if it was just for a few seconds, I never get anything liek than even pinging sites!

btw I did 8 gigs on my account last month.. so proud, so i got lots of new music and found some great sites to ddl off straight from the internets, they got everything.
So you gonna come get my stuff and format by me this wkend, kyle is doing so too..
New ***of CD, i know you want it haha.. en ek besef nou eers.. die ossewabrandwag, het gister aand bla bla..

hey dagga did you buy the router from broadband express, because they only sold the iburst modem to me. Said they have it companies that sell the router. Did you not say you had a Belkin router as well that you bought in the east.
you said that was also crap? why is linksys crap?

I want to know cause I want to now buy a router. But not sure what to buy?

frameoutboot... I have got a Gigabyte B49G, and it works like a dream... well when things are in range. got quite a big house, so it doesnt cover everything, but in range works wonders. To extend range i just bought a DLink AP and set up WDS, now i got strong signal everywhere in the house, and it works like a charm. Oh yeah, also got a 7dBi antenna on the Gigabyte, so that helps enormously.

frameoutboot, the linksys are fine. So are Netgear and probably that Gigabyte too, mostly a router doesnt matter that much, they all do waht they are suppposed to aas long as they have all the features you nedd/want it should be good.

personally I wouldnt spend too much money on one if its not goiung to do much more for me than a cheaper one.

If you need wireless the 7Dbi antenna sounds nice, or the new Netgear super108 models, apparently they have pretty much the strongest signal.
