hey dudes,

havent bought into Iburst, YET!

just wondering about iburst and irc?? will it be limited to 64kb??

cos its not on the list of supported protocols, so those who have it...give me some feedback on the speeds you get when downloading over irc. if it supported of course.

laterz.

Dont know abt download speed, but I couldnt upload things to someone on IRC.

PS: who says internet is for dudes only?

ok,

I am an avid IRC user and if it is not going to be a usable application across WBS then I don't see the point in me going for it,or maybe I should just stop using IRC, hmmmmm (thinking)..nope! IRC is kewl.

I still need assistance RE the connection speed for IRC users, is it 1mbps or 64kb?

awaiting all responses.

IRC chat wouldn't require more than 64k/s. However, since xdcc and fserve are such common forms of filetransfer, and easy routes for bandwidth "abuse", I would expect IRC to be liimited to 64k. :(

Yeah thats mostly what I was after, thanks DVDA.

Now if someone would kindly post the speeds one can accomplish off a dcc or fserve (even with the 64kb) It would be much appreciated.

Sorry about all the questions but most people benchmark products in their own weird and wonderful ways..

thanks for the understanding.

Not exactly sure Nickste,

I am sure its not as streamline as http or ftp, but its probably as competitive as the p2p networks (e-mule,kazza, etc etc), dont quote me!

I just want someone to provide an idea by means of a screenshot or something of actual dcc/fserve get speeds when using IRC, it is my addiction (as apposed to smoking and drinking), so I need my fix at least once a week.

lets wait and see.
cheers

my IRC works like a charm, well dcc on winblows is broken. not sure if it will be limited or not.

sonic_monkey all depends on the senders bandwidth and current use, i have hit over 30kb/s on IRC dcc gets.

If it is able to download at say 1mbit Sonic_Monkey, who has the connection to upload at those speeds anyway?

I'd like to get iburst for online gaming as well... if iburst will ever be available in plumstead, cape town

Where can I see a list of supported protocols?
This kind of thing is worrying to say the least. Are you saying that they actually just drop connections to certain ports on servers or what?

Guys, I need your help. When someone sends me a file using DCC it either times out or fails after a while. When the person resends it, MIRC's resume function doesn't work and I have to start over.

This happens with any files over 10MB. Is there a solution to the DCC resume problem or a nice script I could use?

Hope you guys can help.

Have you tried LG's continuous background ping trick, as per your other [thread=16760]iBurst very slow[/thread] thread?

hmm, also having trouble with DCC, thought it was my firewall at first. Seems that im not the only having problems, so much for secure chat.

Yup. That didn't work. I'll try a new IRC client I found: VIRC (Visual IRC).
Maybe it'll help.
