Hey guys. This is my first post!
Unfortunately it isn't positive. The issue I'm having is this:
I signed up for iBurst about two months ago, knowing full well that my area's coverage is mediocre. So, therefor, I bought a pretty decent yagi antenna: this. My signal strength is a solid 100%... my speed, however, averages about 30kbps and my ping averages 170ms.
My neighbour, on the other hand, has a very similar setup to mine: iBurst 1mb desktop modem, also with a yagi antenna. His antenna is pretty similar to mine, except he doesn't have that 300mm x 300mm grid at the back. His house is right down the road and our antennas point towards the exact same cell tower (the closest one.)
His speed is literally double what mine is and his ping is about 90ms. It's not great, by any means, but it's a lot better than what I am getting.
The biggest difference is his antenna isn't placed as high as mine is. Mine is roughly 5 or 6 metres off the ground, and his is about 3-4 metres.
Any ideas as to what might be going wrong? What other info can I give you guys? His iBurst modem is brand new, just like mine. It's really frustrating that his results are better than mine, especially as an avid online gamer. Try kicking ass in Battlefield 4 when you're jittering all over the place (on PS3).
Any advice would be lovely!
Ricky
