iBurst just spammed me...

Ok, my turn at nitpicking:

Dear Valued Subscriber, - have you ever addressed anybody in your life like this? Indeed i have. It sounds a bit better than "to whom it may concern"

Those of you embarking on well-deserved rests over the December and January holiday season will be pleased to know that iBurst has boosted coverage in coastal cities, in particular, in order to cope with the expected increased data traffic in those areas. - ok, I live in Cape Town, uhm it's a coastal city? Holy ****! You know your coastal cities!!! Cape Town is indeed a coastal city. 10 points! - So what is wrong with iBurst informing us that they at least use a tiny bit of foresight and prepare for the holiday season?

The holiday season has not meant any slowdown for iBurst, however, as our coverage strategy continues unabated. iBurst has recently expanded coverage in the following suburbs and towns: Krugersdorp, Modderfontein, Bryanston, Randburg Waterfront, Lovemore Heights, Newton Park, Polokwane, Pietermaritzburg, Silverlakes, Parow and Century City. - sure you are, there is money to be made. Surply and demand. There is demand, so they surply. Do you have a problem with that? I don't.

Deals aside, - what deals? Perhaps the one where you can get a R500 shopping voucher when you sign a 24 month contract. The one in BIG letters on their home page? I myself don't want to sign a 24 month contract but that is still a deal.it's clear that iBurst is already making progress in the challenging goal of satisfying our subscribers. This is evident from the fact that iBurst was recently named "Broadband (Not according to the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa) Provider of the Year" - yeah and Sentech in 2005? (Obviously haven’t hear about the analogy of comparing rotten apples with rotten apples - which MyADSL has done) I take it you did not vote for iBurst. Others did. WTF? You complain because iBurst takes pride in winning a poll on a website not controlled by themselves? Dude... at the annual MyADSL Broadband Conference. iBurst was recognised for its aggressive rollout of coverage and services as well as for boosting its investment in customer service. - what customer service, the MTU bunch? I think they refer to the ppl that answer the phone when you phone them. I know those ppl need a lot more training still but at least you get to talk to a human.
Other accolades were forthcoming over the past several weeks. iBurst was recognised as the Top Emerging Empowered Company at the Fidentia Top Empowerment Awards.

This last award is particularly satisfying during this time of year when we should all be placing an emphasis on helping others and doing our bit to make South Africa a better, stronger, more equitable country. - so help us your customers first; reduce your inflated prices How? Ask us less than telscum rapes them per gig?, get rid of the restrictive cap’s Once again, how do you expect to get more data for less money when the national surply is overpriced?, increase the access speeds Yea, there is an idea. Throw out all those towers and modems and replace it with some new alien tech that costs less but gives better access speeds! 2Mb/s is coming and we will see where it goes from there, provide a constant reliable service It is wireless internet. Your speed WILL be subject to variation!!! and employ qualified personnel Wow! That is the best idea I have ever heard. How about you put out a job ad for university graduates to come do tech support! Secondly, who do you think will pay for the over qualified tech support then?. Then you can gloat all you want Hmm, I missed the spam message where iBurst was gloating..., I’ll even help. Well, I will help them where I can

Kind regards,

The iBurst Team - who is the team, what are you playing (at)? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team it seems that you can be part of a team even if you do not play any sport...

My boss spammed me once, he was going on about the extra hours i have to work and the reduction in pay...

So Michael not exactly receiving the support he thought he would. Bad luck man.

Not after support...

Hi Jongi

I'm not after support, but interested to know what the opinion of others are, therefore the thread.

My reply to your nitpicking:

Indeed I have. It sounds a bit better than "to whom it may concern" – I would prefer to be addressed by my subscription name and as I have not selected to subscribe to the newsletter I would suggest anything but the impersonal “Valued Subscriber” or "to whom it may concern". A less formal salutation would be more appropriate.

Holy ****! You know your coastal cities!!! Cape Town is indeed a coastal city. 10 points! - So what is wrong with iBurst informing us that they at least use a tiny bit of foresight and prepare for the holiday season? – I am referring to the apparent boost in coverage, as the coverage is over utilised and poor in the CBD of Cape Town.

Surply and demand. There is demand, so they surply. I assume you meant “supply”. Do you have a problem with that? I don't. – Nor do I, what I am suggesting is that since we live in a capitalist society the expansion is not only done to benefit consumers but to benefit the company – which is not reflected in the message. (writing style – inadequate and it seems that the target market of this message has not been established – I would suggest three different circulars; opted-in consumers, suppliers & partners and staff for internal communication purposes)

Perhaps the one where you can get a R500 shopping voucher when you sign a 24 month contract. The one in BIG letters on their home page? I myself don't want to sign a 24 month contract but that is still a deal. – Well how you can safely assume this is what the author meant, I am not entirely sure.

I take it you did not vote for iBurst. Others did. WTF? You complain because iBurst takes pride in winning a poll on a website not controlled by themselves? Dude... – I am not convinced of the accuracy of this statement as MyADSL did a flawed comparison of “Broadband” offerings, which this was based upon. If I had the opportunity to vote, I most probably would have voted for iBurst due to the lack of an alternative.

I think they refer to the ppl that answer the phone when you phone them. I know those ppl need a lot more training still but at least you get to talk to a human.
- I agree, so does everyone including iBurst, so why aren’t they?

How? Ask us less than telscum rapes them per gig? – By mentioning “telscum” I assume you are reffering to SAT 3? According to iBurst they are not entirely reliant on SAT3.

Once again, how do you expect to get more data for less money when the national surply is overpriced? – innovation, alternative routes. There are many large suppliers in S.Africa that use Telkom as an excuse to keep their prices inflated however I am not discounting “Telkom’s” role.

Yea, there is an idea. Throw out all those towers and modems and replace it with some new alien tech that costs less but gives better access speeds! 2Mb/s is coming and we will see where it goes from there – Absurd reply!

It is wireless internet. Your speed WILL be subject to variation!!! - I accept that, however there are no excuses for constantly oversubscribed towers!

Wow! That is the best idea I have ever heard. How about you put out a job ad for university graduates to come do tech support! Secondly, who do you think will pay for the over qualified tech support then? – No, at the bare minimum, employ persons that has a basic understanding of the English language as this is the commonly accepted language for business in S.Africa and it will not hurt to employ persons that have a working knowledge of the internet – should they not, at least educate them - start a training school, they can even use this as a PR tool.

Hmm, I missed the spam message where iBurst was gloating... – Once again an absurd reply!

Well, I will help them where I can – That’s what we are all doing, criticism be it positive or negative, (providing of course that it is constructive) is beneficial.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team it seems that you can be part of a team even if you do not play any sport... – I am referring to the writing style; the author starts off on a formal tone with “Dear Valued Subscriber” and ends off with the informal term “team”.
