Iburst, LEAVE UUNET they are the devil!

Just to let you know, the only hassle uunet ever had in my opinion, is with their oversold uncapped adsl. uunet dialup, isdn, hosting, diginet you name it, I cant say anything bad about any of that.

The problems uunet do get, internationally at time, is cross platform between uunet/is/saix and they all suffer at the same time.

This goes to show, that end of the day, just blame telkom again.. Cause realisticly they still rely on Telkom to have working services rendered to them.

Anyone who has half a brain knows that UUNET quality of service is terrible (theres a reason why MWEB left them). Every ADSL/Iburst connection that relies on UUNET for bandwidth that I have used has been terrible.

Look at the adsl forums... notice the complaints? I beg you WBS, LEAVE UUNET. For once think about your users.

I stand to be corrected... but is anyone on UUNET currently having a good experience?

I luv double posts :-)

Anyways, Sector, the problem we are having in SA is related directly with Telkom. The billions they make, could be invested in upgrading the infrastructure, adding a freaken SAT-100 by now or whatever insane amount of pipes. They keep us in the dark ages, charge us a car and house for the usage, and dont upgrade when neccesary.

the answer to your question is YES. you should be paying more. fact is, ZA is so far off the Superhighway, that we will always pay a lot of money for bandwidth. take a look at http://www.telegeography.com/products/map_internet/index.php. Our continent just doesn not have the cotent to deliver to the rest of the world, that is why bandwidth is so expensive. They only way ISP's (First Tiers) connect to the rest of the world is via SAT-2/3, SAFE or Satellite....and it's expensive. Do you really think that for R700 you can expect a great service, if you think so, you are kidding yourself, and all you will do, is rant and rave and rant and rave like all the other fruitcakes on this site. Take a look at the link, graphically it shows you how much bandwidth ZA has in comparison to the rest of the world. IF you want faster speeds and you dont want to pay for it, then MOVE...go and live in the US or Europe.

Ok, not sure now, will have to reinvestigate when SAT3 was completed - later when I have time...at any rate SAT3 has been run using a fraction of its max capacity, and perhaps that's why the map makes SAT3 look so puny...

Hmm well I wouldn't mind seeing a better, larger view of that map!, Specifically the two top right hand exploded views... Not sure what the scale is as the image is too unclear, but that looks like one hell of a big pipe running into SA from that point of view . The large image I can imagine it would look small due to the scale of everything else.

Also of interest is the AU pipe in the far right image.. Looks smaller from that pic than the pipe to SA.. and well I've seen a few AU people here saying how their service is 10 times better than ours.

Not saying Bandwidth aint expensive.. though what was Hellkoms profit this year... I seem to forget numbers that big

Still the consensus among many IT proffesionals, with who I meet on a daily basis, is that jojonet is no good. Applaudeble try sector - play around with voip on a jojonet connection and tell me your findings.

Play around with VOIP on a UUNET connection. I have and it works like a dream. I think it's great that people have opinions on this site, but it's quite laughable when they are not truely substantiated...this my dear subcribers on MyADSL.co.za is why the market will never take you seriously. And that is a fact. I doubt UUNET has ever lost a customer due to the Cr@p that is posted on this site...I mean seriously. I have no doubt the powers that be at Iburst - who if they are bored have read this thread - will surely not leave UUNET because they are the devil.

I am yet to see a profoundly true statement come from this forum....but the choice belongs to all of you, carry on as you do, and entertain yourselves....which you all do quite well I might add...hey, you even roped me in to your ridiculous thread....but to be honest, I'd rather jack-off to Sydney Bristow than respond any further...

laters.
