I did not change my iBurst subscription after they brought in the new services earlier this year, but now things have changed a bit and I want to move down from 1.2 gig to 1 gig, not a big change right? So why is it that they want to change me R500 to do it. Everything I have seen on the web mentions either R199 or R99.

Can anyone offer some advice on this?
Thanks

Unfortunately I am only half way through my contract, so cancelling is going to be more expensive, unless I have missed something.

are you still on contract? looks like it... hence why you'll need to see out your contract before you can migrate to the lower package...

Hey fishfly

Nope, I can migrate right now even though I am only half way through. You can migrate at any time, if you up your package there is no fee but if you downgrade there is. When the packages changed ‘My Broadband’ reported that it will cost R199 to downgrade to one of the new cheaper packages, now suddenly iBurst is telling me that it will cost R500. All I want to know is what the deal is.

Well I found the answer, unfortunately the R199 (which has been reduced to R99) is only applicable to month to month contracts. For anything else the cost of a downgrade is the difference between the two contracts times 3.

Thats interesting, so by having a contract with them they not only have control of your bank account they also screw you when you want to migrate to a different package.

It's a "win-win" situation for them and a "lose-lose" situation for the sucker who decided to sign up with a contract, not to mention they have a guaranteed income for two years.
