Ok there are four PC's in our office all networked to an adsl router. The company is cancelling the ADSL, dont ask me why. The adsl router is a mecer 4 port. The iburst can connect fine when connected to the router but only on one pc at a time and through a PPPOE dialup connection. So there isnt anything actually wrong with the iburst. The problem occurs when I want to connect all 4 PC's at the same time to the iburst.

I reset the router. made sure it was on PPPOE with no LLC. Entered the iburst username and password in the wan connections and changed the MTU to the iburst 1352. Saved settings and rebooted. Tried to connect the PPP connection but it failes. All PC's are on dhcp and there are no IP conflicts.

Any help? Maybe the router cannot connect through the modem?

Why not connect the iBurst router to one PC, and use Internet Connection Sharing to share that one PC between the others?

Easiest and quickest.

I assume the ADSL router is the 4-port model.

The machines arent on 24/7. Need a stable always on connection therfore it cannot be connected to one PC. Im going to look around for different routers. Yes its the 4 port router. The only reason their going for iburst is because of the telkom problems a few weeks back in the cape and they lost a lot of emails and business online. Though it wouldnt have been my suggestion to get iburst. Oh well they gota live with it lol. Lucky enough they have good signal strength. Has no one used ibust through another router? strange. Im going to phone one of the iburst conusultants and find out which router has been proven to work.

Thanks for the suggestion :)

@ paul : you can also go for Smoothwall as firewall.

Benefits include, but is not limited to :

- ClamAV filters incoming POP3 messages - no viruses.
- Firewall control in managing what comes in and goes out
- Can keep more accurate bandwidth usage statistics
- Can stay on 24x7, Internet will be shared between the 4 computers
- Ability to filter out banner ads
- Ability to block unwanted sites (pr0n etc)

If you feel you're up to it, go and have a look.

Best of it all, it's free, and only a 70Mb download. :)
