Yip, ordered my telkom line, ETA is 3 days
You know, after all this with iBurst it really makes Telkom not look so bad! 3 days ETA, 7 days max they told me [we'll see if this is true] which isnt bad considering they have lot of people to look after. I personally dont mind waiting a week for a new phone line to be installed.
I've been on an iBurst m2m since last year this time [end of sept], and I must say that they were wonderful... until about April this year. Something changed almost over 1 month in that company. I didnt mind the shaping of p2p to 7Kps, and everything was good. Then, lag went up and p2p was killed. Deep packet inspection [to stop p2p] made it a lot laggy. Then the REAL bad thing company wise came, the wrongful billing of people.
Now I'm on m2m, no worries here right? no pay, no internet. Simple, you cant mess up m2m billing... well, i was billed twice for march and they charged me something terrible like R120 for who knows what [they told me it was the upgrade fee...] Needless to say I was annoyed. But, the issue was resovled and they credited the amount. Then, out of the blue they reported that i'd used ALL my bandwidth, and then some more at the beginning of the month. I emailed support at 5am [thats when I check my usuage]. And I waited. I gave them time, dont think they are open at 5am [although, there should be at least 1 person on standby right?]. And I waited... and Waited, at about 11ish no email reply, so I emailed again "why have I not got a reply to this email attached?". And i waited some more...
That afternoon they replied a quick "this is happened everywhere, we are looking into it"... nearly 10hrs later I got a REPLY! The issue wasnt even solved till the next day. Not even an apology.
It was this time that I decided to change. You hear the stories but until it happens to you, you think it's all over hyped. Kinda expecting them to bill me after I cancel. Actually, I'm going to let my bank make sure they dont take another cent, just to be safe.
But there are more problems. Like, vodacom, cellc and MTN are ALL cheaper than iBurst. The iburst is about a 384 line anyway in it's slowness and a 384 line with 2x the cap is R100 cheaper! iBurst has fallen behind price wise, fallen behind on customer services, fallen behind on package offering. Even come to a point where Telkom looks much better than iBurst.
Yes, I said it, Telkom is MUCH better than iBurst!
Ping is less, cap is more, no shape to death traffic. Also free install AND in august a FREE router! [free router from certain ISPs for DSL too]
So anyway, we'll see how quick I get a phone line and DSL, Goodbye iBurst!
