Yip, ordered my telkom line, ETA is 3 days :)

You know, after all this with iBurst it really makes Telkom not look so bad! 3 days ETA, 7 days max they told me [we'll see if this is true] which isnt bad considering they have lot of people to look after. I personally dont mind waiting a week for a new phone line to be installed.

I've been on an iBurst m2m since last year this time [end of sept], and I must say that they were wonderful... until about April this year. Something changed almost over 1 month in that company. I didnt mind the shaping of p2p to 7Kps, and everything was good. Then, lag went up and p2p was killed. Deep packet inspection [to stop p2p] made it a lot laggy. Then the REAL bad thing company wise came, the wrongful billing of people.

Now I'm on m2m, no worries here right? no pay, no internet. Simple, you cant mess up m2m billing... well, i was billed twice for march and they charged me something terrible like R120 for who knows what [they told me it was the upgrade fee...] Needless to say I was annoyed. But, the issue was resovled and they credited the amount. Then, out of the blue they reported that i'd used ALL my bandwidth, and then some more at the beginning of the month. I emailed support at 5am [thats when I check my usuage]. And I waited. I gave them time, dont think they are open at 5am [although, there should be at least 1 person on standby right?]. And I waited... and Waited, at about 11ish no email reply, so I emailed again "why have I not got a reply to this email attached?". And i waited some more...

That afternoon they replied a quick "this is happened everywhere, we are looking into it"... nearly 10hrs later I got a REPLY! The issue wasnt even solved till the next day. Not even an apology.

It was this time that I decided to change. You hear the stories but until it happens to you, you think it's all over hyped. Kinda expecting them to bill me after I cancel. Actually, I'm going to let my bank make sure they dont take another cent, just to be safe.

But there are more problems. Like, vodacom, cellc and MTN are ALL cheaper than iBurst. The iburst is about a 384 line anyway in it's slowness and a 384 line with 2x the cap is R100 cheaper! iBurst has fallen behind price wise, fallen behind on customer services, fallen behind on package offering. Even come to a point where Telkom looks much better than iBurst.

Yes, I said it, Telkom is MUCH better than iBurst!

Ping is less, cap is more, no shape to death traffic. Also free install AND in august a FREE router! [free router from certain ISPs for DSL too]

So anyway, we'll see how quick I get a phone line and DSL, Goodbye iBurst!

Like I said before wireless is cr@p!

I will never ever use it again.

I thought to myself when I started to rent this townhouse get wireless as it will be quicker to install and cheaper.

Turns out it took longer to install wireless than it took Telkom to install my DSl line.

You wont be sorry you left Iburst.

I have no idea why people stay with Iburst. When I cancelled I had been with them for 2,75 years and saw total deteriation in their service over time.I even ran DSL together with Iburst for almost a year and realised the benefits of DSL.I do not support Telkom and when something better arrives I will change.Wait till you cancel with Iburst now that is a even a worse nihtmare to go through and I was month to month.

ADSL the best for price.....

make sure to get TelkomIntenet 3GB(thats 6GB btw)

I am not with Telkominternet.Their policy of giving 6Gb for the price of 3Gb seemsto have gone out the window since the end of August.See DSL Isp forum.Anyway I do not use 3Gb in a month though I pay for it.I just disagree with the policies of Iburst and the way they suck people in with their offerings. All hell broke lose at Iburst when Ed Hall left.(Only my observation)

I saved a pretty penny by selecting the Closer 1 plan.

Did not have to pay for line installation and taking DoBroadband 2 SIO saved on dsl installation.

2 Gigs should do nicely for now and there is always dirt cheap local packages to choose from for my other needs.

Problem with iBurst is the delivery which take few days, ok speed is becoming a problem in some cases as well :). Same hardware issue with vodacom 3g but it can be done within a week as well same as telkom adsl line. Although it can be quicker then a week but it all depends on how quickly a customer completes the required paper work in the end.

3G HSPDA is best if you have coverage, although it's still expensive compared to ADSL data bundles. But it can be faster then Home ADSL user accounts if you have good coverage. Hopefully it will come down in pricing as it gets utilised more and more.

Although Telkom Plan 4 is quite good deal for home users.

Of course, doing the Closer 1 plan, getting self install DSL and going with my own ISP coz I can get a free router going that way. Also the do packages are kinda expensive too (can get 3GB for the same price as a Do 2GB)

I'm on iburst cos telkom believes that i owe them R1500 from a landline I cancelled 2 months before (and paid in full) I left the apartment... I told them that is absolute bull**** cos I haven't had a line for 2 months... so needless to say I won't be getting a landline anytime soon :(

but with iburst in question thank GOD I went with fusionreactor for my billing... they haven't dared to double debit my m2m yet... if they do then I'm taking a drive with a couple of mates to their head office

iBurst had stopped being cost effective. That was why I changed. But I had also experienced debit orders not being taken and no attempt by them to resolve the issue even after alerting them to the fact.

Good luck, please keep us posted as to how long it takes to have the phone-line installed and the ADSL working.

Nice! Glad to see they're getting more jacked up. Which ISP are you thinking of gonig with? Why didn't you do a do option?

I have a phone line and took the self install. Sill waiting but it’s only been 2 day so...
They allocated the port but still need to test the line or something.

Phone installed in 5 days now just waiting for ISP to sort out ADSL portion, been 3 weeks due to an administration issue... which they are trying to resolve now...

Then it will also be by by ibust/noburst/$burst/slowburst/alltalkandnoactionburst/usageloglieburst

I think they give that type of estimate but it takes shorter in practise

Hope your right, initially they said it would take max a week but now 2-3 weeks. Will let you guys know how long it takes. I think it largely depends on the area you are in and what the depend for the service is in that area.

I have decided to give up on iburst.. sick of the crap i am having with them.

So time to cross over to the darkside...

It's pretty "bright" and less stressful on the darkside, at least from my point of view everything is working much better including accounts.:D
