I just wanted to know if it possible to pick up the modem and install Iburst yourself ?

And...

On the Iburst website under "Hardware", there is 2 modems? A "Modem for desktop computers (USB with Ethernet port)"-R2190, and a "Wireless VoIP Router"-R1392.

Im not sure If I misunderstood the modems thing, if there is anyone that can help me...

I suggest the normal UTD ethernet port one. This means that you plug a network cable between it and your PC to be connected.

The wireless one means you connect to the modem without a network cable but you do need a wireless network connection (you can pick up a wireless card for about R200)

There are 3 iBurst modems -
Desktop
USB
PCMCIA

Rather get a reseller to test signal in your house first

I suppose that wireless router isn't any special iBUrst modem/router combo?

They are just offering it to help out people ho want to use their new VOIP product, you don't need to get it at all if you have no use for it.

Yes, you can pick up your modem from iBurst and install it yourself. They are located in Park Lane, Sandton.

I would suggest getting the desktop modem because my desktop modem is giving me better signal than my USB modem gave me. Only get the USB modem is you intend to use it on a laptop. I don't recommend the PCMCIA modem, as it cannot be fitted to a normal PC without the appropriate adaptor.

I would also suggest that you get iBurst out to check your signal before ordering. Do not rely on the signal maps on the website. Rather check first. Remember, the weaker the signal, the slower the connection.

When they come out and check your signal, run a couple of speed tests before ordering to check the the tower you are connecting to is not overloaded.

Best of luck to you
