Iburst off

I have just found out at 16:00 that none of the outgoing mail I have sent since 08:00 this morning has reached its destination. Connected to Wonderboom tower.

Mail problems

I am in Umhlanga, and sent emails this afternoon and none have reached their destination.

I dont know what is the problem, but it is irritating unable to conduct business without deliveru of mails

None of mine went out today either. Pretty goddamn tacky. How about a notification email?

Halicon, this is not using iBurst mail but IAfrica! POP is jhbpop01.iafrica.com, SMTP is wbs.co.za.

Yikes, I did not know we could. I have always been irritated by not being allowed to use the IAfrica SMTP. Will contact them first thing Tuesday. Thanks for the tip.

I just contacted them, at 21:20 and there was someone answering immediately. I have sent the required request and they say it will be changed for me on Tuesday. Have been given 196.46.70.2 as SMTP address to use in the meantime. Does anyone know if it improves things?

They use two different ip's as smtp, 196.46.70.2 and 196.30.31.197. both work better than smtp.wbs.co.za

Bye Bye iBurst

We have an iBurst link from our office (due to no ADSL availability). This problem has cost us thousands as none of our emails yesterday reached their destination. About a month ago we had the same problem with their 2 other SMTP servers and were told not to use the IP addresses but rather smtp.wbs.co.za .Apparently it is their SPAM filter software not working correctly.

Telkom has just installed our ADSL yesterday, but I have not swithced the users to it. Fortunately I have a long weekend to do so.

BYE BYE iBurst !!!!

I made a decision to ditch Telkom totally and so, despite the few problems with iBurst, I will stay with them. It took Telkom four months to process and complete an analogue to ISDN upgrade. Then it took almost six months for them to upgrade ISDN to ADSL. Their excuses were: I did not apply for ADSL. I applied January 2005 and contacted them in March 2005. I quoted them the order number. Then they said that there's no ADSL in Montana Park. I quoted the neighbours and people I know in the area who have ADSL. By this time, now July 2005, I had had enough.

For me it it now a matter of principle. I am glad that iBurst now allows you to use your own SMTP server. This was not advertised anywhere though. Luckily I have copies of all the mail I sent yesterday and my clients are understanding in this regard. There's no way I will ever want to have anything to do with Telkom again. I will rather wait for the second operator, even if it is more expensive. And even them I doubt if it will improve on the service I now get. Sure, yesteday was a problem, but it's the first time. Any my iBurst connection still delivers better results as ADSL clients in the area.
