I recently signed up 2 associates with iBurst, since they were old and technology-impaired :)

Amanda Muller from the sales department helped me out, and man oh man is that chick on the ball!!!! What excellent service! She called back when she said she would, followed up on things and generally kept the ball rolling. She even gave me her private cell number, so that I could contact her after hours if need be!

I am HUGELY impressed with her efficient, professional service.

Also, when dealing with the technical support department recently, I had a few issues with a domain transfer. I emailed Ed Hall, who quickly sorted out the problems I was having, and kept me up to date on the progress. Excellent service! Also a big thanks to Rodney Bvuma from advanced support for sorting it out for me!! That chap really knows his stuff.

I will most certainly be more than happy to recommend iBurst to more people in the future, given the service that I have received.

My connection at home is fast and stable, even through the recent heavy storms we have been having. I'm so impressed with the connection, that I have opted to host my websites from home, saving a huge amount of cash (which I'll gladly use to buy more bandwidth)

Excellent work iBurst, keep it up!!!

...and to all you nay-sayers out there... read some of my previous posts, I've only had good dealings with iBurst...

I am sure iBurst also appreciates the good news coming out.

My iBurst at home has been fantastic ever since I had it installed. The only problem I am having now is playing games online through Xbox Live. Unfortunately iBurst will never be as stable as ADSL for gaming... I am going to have to change when Neotel offers ADSL... It's a pity really.

iBurst is fantastic for anyone who doesn't need online gaming... I have had zero problems apart from that.

Off the topic question:

How did you sign up for Live! ... did you just fudge the country to UK or something?

Also what mtu do you run? I had my D-Link router connected to iBurst UTD at 1324 but the Live! Connectivity Test failed the MTU. Raised it to 1392 and now its fine. Does normal 1352 work OK with Live! ?

 oh no my ignorance is going to show :D

Signing up for live is easy. You can set the box to be South Africa but when you sign up online use UK.

You need a UK postcode, I used my old one E16 2SP

In regards to MTU I have no idea, I have never changed mine. I use a Linksys 54GTR (I think) router so whatever it came with as standard.

My guess is that it should work with the MTU set to 1352, since that is the recommended setting and the UTD performs the best when set to that. One shouldn't alter it.

Cool, thanks for the replies. Am successfully registered with Live! on 1 month Gold trial ... not too much intereseting unless you have credit and are prepared to waste lots of BW.

Will be sticking with mtu 1392 as all my other stuff, namely VPN to work, seems fine with it (i.e. speed/responsiveness).

To me Live! has two fantastic sections.

1. The ability to play multiplayer games whenever you want. I have never looked for an online game and not found one and it is so easy even my parents could do it. That alone is worth the cost of Live! to me.

2. Arcade games. These are generally fantastic little addictive games to download for a fraction of the cost of normal games. Some of my favourite ones are Hexic, Small Arms, UNO and .... Damn I forgot the name... Anyway not serious :D

Bandwidth is a major problem for all the other things though. A Trailer of a game in HD takes 500Mb.... We need more bandwidth. I downloaded a trailer of the upcoming Simpsons movie though. That looks cool.

Also Live! often offers free upgrades to your existing games, EPIC has already said GOW is going to be getting some new multiplayer levels free soon.

hmmm wierd i play wow on iburst and have not had that many problems really.
there is the odd bit of lag that happens but more oftne than not i have no problems

Darksun, games like GOW and wow are fine on iBurst.

But try playing something like Dead or Alive or a fast paced action game and you then see the problems unfortunately.

Connect to iBurst

I mean in general for users in the JHB area. I cannot connect to iBurst and cannot ping www.iburst.co.za.

I am in Randburg and connect to Illovo BS. db = -70. BS OK. Have several other BSs to access automatically should Illovo go down. Just not geeting thru to www.iburst.co.za!!!!!
