Hello,

I have to choose between Sentech's MyWireless 3Gig package and iburst's 3gig package. Signal strength isn't an issue. Iburst seems cheaper and much faster. But it sounds to good to be true. Can anyone offer any advice? Which is better?

Keeping track of my posts makes you a loser with too much time on his hands. Besides, my post clearly straddles more than one category: it's both iburst and sentech.

Sentech is absolute crap
No service, continuous disconnects, too expensive, and they will probably change the terms of your contract whenever they possibly can.

Today you're getting 3Gb, tomorrow you'll get a call for them "upgrading you" to 1Gb for only double the price.................

Stick to Iburst.

stinktek no more. after spending to much money on crap. im going adsl today.

i would take neither - wireless not a good option in RSA, rather take the devilkom than constant disconnections and crud from stinktek or weather realted connections.

Maybe you should also try reading the rest of the forums and seeing what other's opinions are on the services.

That said, MyWireless is stupid. You're stupid. Use iBurst.

Nowadays it's no choice at all, really; specially as you say you're good to go for iBurst signal strength. About the only reasons left to possibly go with Sentech are:
- you have absolutely no other choice at anything resembling a decent price.
- you've already got a MyWi modem and don't have money to burn in getting the modem for anyone else's service.
- someone else is footing the bill

That said, all of the wireless 'net access in this place is hugely dependent on quality of signal and it is very much worth your while making sure you've got pristine signal strength when you get going.

Aah, right, then it makes sense globally. ;)

But i think the main point is that he was stupid (or the other guy thought he was) the other two are kind of taken for granted.

Guys, you are bullying and hi-jacking the Suctech forum - well, if they still have any members to bully.

Come home - and I'm not gonna tell you twice. Stop jumping over the fence.

My 2 cents

I had ADSL and wanted to try see if Iburst was better, the guy who came to test the Iburst modem told me I would be a complete fool to change from ADSL to Iburst, I also tested out a few things like skype, msn, and some online games, and after waiting for what felt like ages just to get a skype connection, never mind a call going, I thanked the man and sent him on his way.

Nothing SA has to offer beats ADSL, and its about as cheap as the Iburst and Sentech now.

ADSL sure is the better option, but I need to go for Iburst while waiting for Telkom to pull their fists out of their bums and "downgrade" my exchange from fiber to copper so that I can get ADSL.

I wouldn't change FROM ADSL to IBurst but as has been said a few times, IBurst vs Sentech is like a pitting a Bulldog vs a budgie. So no contest there. To all posters who slam IBurst PLEASE PLEASE remember. Bad signal/moderate signal results in a very bad to bad iburst experience. Good signal results in a wonderful experience. So just because your experience is not so good in 1 location does not really have bearing on anyone besides your immediate neighbours. I sometimes think about getting an ADSL line and then I think - naaahhh! Why bother? My IBurst is working perfectly and has done for months and months with speeds in excess of 400kbps and up to 900kbps. Will ADSL beat that? Maybe by a few kbps, but is the hassle factor worth it? I don't think it is. So I keep going on IBurst and I have been really happy on it. But Alex - your experience in your area is clearly different. However, this does not have much bearing on anyone else really. In summary - test your signal before evaluating if iBurst is for you...
