Simple question - can't Iburst cap p2p permanently at 8KB/s. With the current software they use to prioritise I can't download anything via p2p. Anakin or Sihen please respond - I need an answer please.

aborg.

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP2 and Shareaze p2p and it work fine for me.In the evenings from 23h00 I get download speed between 300kbps to 1088 kbps. My signal is constant at 100% and the Frame error Rate does not go higher than 0.75%. I am using the UTC iBurst. I have tweaked it acording to settings available on their forum.

Before I've installed SP2 shareaze download between 700kbps to 1088kbps.

I did use eMule before and did get the same problems that you are getting at the moment.

I am in the Albersville Greymont area. and the reception here is excellent.

I will try it in Linux as well to see if there is a difference and report back - like I have mentioned I have patched my SP2 to allow for more concurrent tcp/ip connections. The thing is the torrent connects perfectly to seeds/clients but zero data is transferred where two weeks ago it worked perfectly. I find the sudden change suspicious.

you guys are lucky... I can't download anything via p2p. I have a list of music videos I'd like to get, and I can't, 'cos it connects, searches and returns results... I just can't download anything... :(

What are you using to download Yak? I find DC++ works best with iBurst for me. Especially StrongDC++ which allows concurrent connections. With only two source I can max out the connection at 120kB.

Got a funny feeling they port shape the lower ports, 1024 downwards quite agressively, but above 1024 still seems to work ok. Bittorrent, Blizzard downloader for example use upper ports (above 9000) and you get good speeds. Kazaa, Edonkey gets nailed badly.

as a thought - I'm wondering if they're blocking individual downloaders - seeing as some people 'have' p2p, and others dont.. I dont buy the 'there's X amount of bandwidth for p2p and first come first served' story. I've also tried various apps, and while they connect and see the other peers, no data comes, regardless of how long one waits..
A geek has suggested that what they're doing is limiting the number of IP's that can connect at the same time to me - thus effectively cutting off the standard p2p.

mmm interesting LG I think they might block users - I will phone them tomorrow. re-edit - 'Spoke to soon my p2p doesn't work under linux either - when I test ports with Azureus I get NAT errors on almost all the ports I try - it is as dead as a dead duck'
