There is only one conclusion to this, and that is, there network is hopelessly overloaded and there is not enough bandwidth.

Last night (after 12am) I was getting constant high speeds (104 - 108kbps), and now, at 3pm I can barely get 20kbps, its pathetic!

I finally got an email from Telkom saying they will be installing cables in our complex starting next Friday, I have been waiting since September 2005, and hopefully (if they actually do it) I will be changing to 4mb ADSL, now with there new pricing from 1st August, they will be over R150 cheaper than iBurst

I was in the process of changing it :)

Im getting 0.8kbps on a torrent, on my Vodacom 3g card im getting 28kbp/s.. but dont want to go over my 500mb limit on 3g card!

Isn't the new ADSL pricing R410 for 4mb? What iBurst package are you on atm?

Just wondering where R150 comes from, but ja, I'd change too.

I think a lot of iBurst customers will be thinking of jumping ship, I have also been considering it and right now the main reason I've not "jumped" is the 64kbps after cap.

If I can find a similar arrangement with adsl it will be bye bye iBurst.

Im Currently on Iburst 6gig package

Telkom 4mb ADSL (Current Pricing)

ADSL Line Rental: R516
Analog Line Rental: R99.92
Freestyle 5000: R285 (Imaginet)

Total: R900.92
Iburst 6G: R899.00

Difference: R1.92 (ADSL More)

Telkom 4mb ADSL (August Pricing)

ADSL Line Rental: R413
Analog Line Rental: R111.90
Freestyle 5000: R285 (Imaginet)

Total: R809.90
Iburst 6G: R899.00

Difference: R75.08 (ADSL Less)

Ok so my maths of like R150 where a bit off, I forgot about the Line rental charge!! (thats what happens when you wait so long Telkom to install a line..)

I know its 1 gig less, but its also 4mb unlike i-bursts ****ty non consistent service!

Well my speeds after hours ave. 130 KB/s and during office hours around 22 KB/s - the bandwidth is just not there, but the proxy is and preventing you to log into most secure sites - the connection to the tower is fine - meters away...

Wow, looks like telkoms going to be getting a lot of their haters on board, including myself. Can't wait for my contract to end, unless iBurst does something between now and August.

Even at R100 more a month, quality of connection is a LOT more important than speed, considering 384 on ADSL seems 4 times faster than a supposed 1024 on iBurst!
