Anybody from wbs please read!!

If anybody from wbs uses the forums, could you please answers this question! I've emailed the help desk twice over the last two weeks and have received no reply.

Is there a totally shaping free account on the cards for the near future? If not, why?

Dude the 9 gig is unshaped, what's with the bait and switch??

The 9 gig is not unshaped, i've just spoken to the helpdesk, only p2p and video streaming and certain other useless ports are open the rest are 64kport shaped;)

They don't seem to know if a truely unshaped account is on the cards

WBS dont have a fully Unshaped package yet.The 9GB allows unshaped for Mail,WEB,P2P,Streaming and VPN.Rest of the protocols are shaped

Unshapped 9Gb Iburst Connection

I have a question on the 9Gb Iburst unshapped thread. What happens when you do hit you're cap. Is you're 64K shaped or does the connection remain unshaped but just running slower?

Cheers
Eric

"Shaped" means running slower, at 64kbs instead of 1024kbps. So after the cap everything is shaped.

Wouldn't it be nice to have unshaped...

OR

be able to CHOOSE which protocols to shape ... whooooo this isn't rocket science??? Personally I would like to have my online gaming ports to be unshaped because I have no need for P2P...

An example where I would use this:
Many times Guild Wars streams future-release updates to the games in the background. So the gameplay traffic AND the updates are being transferred at the same time and causes lag because it is capped. The transfer rate is visible in-game and I can see that it is capped. If I could choose that port to be uncapped, it would be great.

Surely P2P is more traffic-intensive than any other port? Am I correct? Any comments on this? So if I choose not to use P2P then no matter what I choose in it's stead, it won't be worse...

A life of choice and convenience.....mmmmmmmmm to dream

I couldn't agree with you more, i have the same problem, i have no interest in p2p or streaming etc, i just want to my eve-online in peace with no horrid lag, i must have lost three ships to lag in the last 3 months, it's so bad sometimes it's totally unplayable. Online gaming uses much less bandwidth than p2p,as far as i've seen, so i can't see the harm in letting people choose the ports they want open, i would gladly have p2p shaped on the 9 gig account to open up my online games.:D

Hope somebody from wbs reads these posts :p

They do - and end up ROTFLOL at what people actually want and what they actually provide.

Hi Kev,

I've seen a couple of your posts and it looks like you work for wbs, is this true?

If it is, please could you tell us when wbs is planning on giving us a totally unshaped account, if ever? :D

Thanks :D
