Hi Guys,

I recently got myself the iBurst desktop terminal and for such an expensive device is completely useless...

So coz it has no routing, firewalling, well anything, I setup PPPoE on my much loved RB112 Mikrotik Board. Its up and running fine except Its dog slow to any site cept iBurst.

Some useless info:

1. The iBurst account is throttled but it does not explain why its quick if I setup the PPPoE connection on my Windows 7 64bit Ulimate PC

2. The iBurst .co.za site itself does not seem to be affected and is lightning quick, always!

3. I do not move the equipment, the RB112 is mouted in the ceiling providing wireless to the home, the PC is in my room and the iBurst is plugged into a WRT54g3g Linksys Router in the TV room, at all times.

Any ideas? Anyone else using a Mikrotik to dial the iBurst PPPoE connection?

Thx
RVQ

I'm using a rb433 and no problems, but then I am using an ethernet cable to plug into the rb.

Did you change the MTU setting on the router board it needs to be something like 1392

No I didnt. Quick google search and I found the below, will try it out, thanks.

How can my MTU settings improve iBurst performance?

MTUs are critical when using iBurst. Connectivity in a networked environment requires MTUs set on the router and the network interface ports.iBurst is based on PPPOE & default Windows MTU settings of 1500 can't be used, and should be adjusted, even if problems are not experienced.Correctly set MTU will prevent packet fragmentation resulting in degraded connectivity. The recommended MTU for iBurst is 1392. For stand alone USB or PCMCIA please set the Dial Up Ras MTU to 1392 . Set MTU for VPN to 1364.

Shouldnt the iBurst site be affected by this as well? Or will it even survive the end of the world so iBurst can sell data to Zombies?

The MTU should be set to 1324, try this simple ping test in command prompt.

'ping -f -l 1324 www.google.co.za'

If it says packet needs to be fragmented, then drop the MTU in the ping test until you get a clean reply....

If nothing else try these DNS servers:

Primary: 168.210.2.2
Secondary: 196.41.0.10

Good luck...
