I am currently a tester of Iburst in the Bramley area (2.5 K's from sandton) I have 100% signal and not much errors on the iburst software but my speeds are very jumpy, on local sites i reach upto 125kb/s but international seems slow? Iv approached a company in Wyneburg called pointing about a dish for my iburst but they dont seem to know what type of connector the card use's. I think one of my problems is also I have a PCMCIA card and im using it though my old megawan bridge (yes, i have already updated my bridge software) but it seems alot slower though the bridge?
The Iburst software jumps badly from 1000kbps to 200 then 300 and so on thats why a dish might help me.
Does anyone know when the iburst access points(routers) or pc cards are comming in?

Sihen, could I ask you to set your MTU to 1500? I know of another tester in Bramley on Corlett drive with continuously good feedback on iBurst, local and international.

Wrt connectors, try contacting www.webb.co.za - they appear to deal in various iBurst stuff. I'd hesitate before investing in antennas at this stage. The frequencies on test will change from 2.3Ghz to 1.8Ghz at commercial rollout.

EDIT: MTU should be currently set to 1400. However, once the optimum MTU is confirmed, I will post it here.

anakin thanks so much for the fast reply,
how do i set MTU to 1500? iv only got the pcmcia card. (I dont see any option in the Iburst Utils that can be changed)

international the quickest im hitting is 30 but its normally around 10kb/s. but once again it could be the old megawan bridge that is causing the problem but on the other hand pcmcia has not changed in years so with updated drivers it should work fine.

If not a Dish then I want to find something like the sentech patch pannel just to extend my signal nearer my window.

I find I have to move this little antena around alot before i get my 100% signal.

Try to google for drtcp for setting MTUs if you are using Windows. MTUs seem to have a great effect when one is sharing the iBurst connecion.

I'm not sure if there's a general international failure with International links. I have battled all day with international on MyWireless and also with my ISDN with Mweb (who use UUNET as iBurst during test phase).

www.webb.co.za can help - but try to find something which will cover the 2.3Ghz and 1.8Ghz frequencies. Take the iBurst card with you. They can advise.

Dorris email me your Number?

Anakin, is there no way of getting some type of contact information for the guy in Bramley (Corlett drive) like a email address or something, would love to hook up with him so maybe he could try help me out.

Sorry, he's some big shot IT manager, and its a bit awkward to ask him to help out with other users problems.

However, email me through the forum, and I'll see if I can assist.

Hey dyl, I heard you were getting Iburst on friday!
sorry I haven't been on the forums since this morning, things have got quite heated at twits this week, been working madly on some projects, just sent you a mail.
In regards to an aerial, as the Jedi knight said, don't do it now, unless you willing to re-invest when they change frequencys next year.

Dyldo...your bridge is the problem...i`ve told you that a million times. we shall see

Sihen, I had a chat with WBS today about your setup, and they are also under the impression the bridge may be the cause of your problems.
