Im very unhappy and dissapointed in iBurst. Before I ordered iBurst a couple of months ago, I phoned iBurst and spoke to an operator about some techicals about iBurst. He reassured me that iBurst was great for online games (even real-time games like World of Warcraft and Battlefield 2) and is maybe even faster than adsl. I also visited their website which also said that iBurst is great for online games. I then went ahead and purchased a 24-month 3gig contract. I was very happy with my internet speeds where downloading and general surf is concerned. A week or so went by, when I tried some STRATEGY games (like Warcraft 3) on LOCAL servers, and the lag and delay was terrible. I then phoned iBurst to rectify it, and they told me a level two techition will phone me back. A week of waiting went by, and I contacted them, and again they said a level two techition will phone me back. I have since heard no reply from any iBurst people.

I try to ping local servers such as saix, and my ping is around 200-400ms which is slower than a regular dail-up 56k modem. I am in a "dark-green" coverage area (which is the best) and i download sometimes up to 90kb/s. Which is super! But my ping is terrible! I bought iBurst for online games, and now I am bitterly dissapointed. To get out of my contract, I was told, I must pay the outstanding fee. Which is like R15000. You can understand why I'm still an iBurst subscriber. I'm bitterly dissapointed in the poor service from iBurst, and their website at the time.

Does anybody have any advice for me on what I can do... And more importantly, what my position is?

Any help would be appreciated.

oke 1st thing is to see what your signal quality is .... for more reff. to that look @ the uTraceStar threads..... closer to 0 the better

and there was one week in the time i had my iburst that i could play BattleField2 online with a ping of 80-120 was awsume ....

so yes online gaming is possible the wife and myself are playing Guildwars online ... and i have a hectic shyte connection .... ... but it all boils down to your signal quality ...

yeah and the help desk is the biggest load is Fuc|<ing toss... they are totally useless in giving technical iformation ....

Well your pings of 200-400ms aren't that great for Iburst.

Like Dagened said, use UTTracestar to get the best performance. Your download speed of sometimes up to 90kb isnt the best either for a dark green area, I get higher than that in (just) the lightest are you can be, but with an antenna.

But unfortunately, the guy from Iburst lied to you, very badly.
You could easiy get warcraft local to work fine with iburst in a dark green area. I play online veryday, and my connection isnt that good. A friend of mine in a dark green area (also only just) got a ping of 43ms on the server yesterday. But a bit of lag is normal.

You should really have know about this before you bought Iburst... id hate that Iburst techy guy who lied to you for this especially being stuck in the contract now.

Im shure you should be able to get out of the contract simply by given them the crap they deserve about lying to you. It was their fault, and if you need it for gaming, you should be on ADSL. Unless you are content with just warcraft 3 local and maby FPS local on weekend and nights if you set up the connection well.

Hope you get help
