Hi guys,

I did a quick search, but am unable to find a recent related thread. I'm interested to get iBurst Wireless, but I cannot find answers to my questions on the iBurst website and they have not responded to my enquiry (guess that is a bad start).

Basically I want to know what is required to be able to use them as ISP for the Starta+ and Basic2+ options since there are no modem options/pricing for those two packages. Then I also want to know what do they mean with the "Refurbished" and "Rental" modem options on the other packages? I assume "rental" price is to rent a modem, but what does "refurbished" mean and do those prices include the data or is it for the modem "rental" only?

I am able to get a modem, where do I get data package prices without modem rental? Is it possible to pay for data only if you have your own modem?

p.s. I've read in the forum that one should rather pay them by CC or EFT instead of signing a contract and/or debit order.

Thanks

I am on a 24 Month contract... still have 1 year left.

Nothing can prepare you for the connectivity frustrations you will have.

If iBurst is your ABSOLUTE LAST resort, then call them on their call centre number: 0877 20 20 20. They usually have a lot more specials and bundles than what they advertise.

The sales dept. is generally good, but that is where stops.

I have emailed sales, admin, enquiries, basically all the email addresses I could find on their website since my initial post and to date I have not received 1 single reply. Thank you for your comment, I think I have made up my mind NOT to use iBurst as an ISP.

I would like to know if Iburst still has those 2mbit and 4mbit and 10mbit Uncapped accounts. / Deals with the Modem with it (to give 4mbit or 10mbit speeds)

What are the new prices and AUP per day.

if its 10mbit with a 10gig per day AUP and p2p running at 2mbit or something similar.. that would work

To date I have not received any feedback from iBurst. The best advice I got from forum members and colleagues (ex iBurst clients) is to stay away from iBurst as far as possible.

ADSL is not an option for me - the line rental (without any data) costs you more than R300 per month - that is just ridiculous. I'm going to make use of a local company who installs a small dish at your place and who has various different packages to choose from, from as little as R89 per month. Installation is once-off R1500. A telkom line installation (+- R550) and a router (+- R800) will cost you about the same.

One other thing that is making me not so happy... i wanted to get the higher speed Miburt/MyBurst. Which would have been uncapped 10mbit(R1199 or R1599 for Upto 20mbit). As my ADSL speed is not the best. This would have been a far better option for me.

But when i phoned Iburst, they said they can't offer that to me. Because i need to have 4 people in my area to have it too. (its mostly for businesses and any single user/1home can't take it. So this means i have to get 4 company's or people in my area to share that internet with me.

and yip.. not many people in my area will coff R1200 for internet monthly...

Been with iBurst now for 6 years and very happy.I am on the 10 gig wirless package costing me R149 per month, including a phone connected to my router and modem which is a top up and works like a dream.I have a desk top modem with a router and an external antenna and although I am in a poor signal reception area in cape town I am still happy with a download speed of 998 kbps and upload at299 kbps. While not the fastest in town is more than good enough for my useage. You can check all data prices and signal strength's on their website. They also have a month to month plan with no cotract but I personally prefer a contract because after your 2 year period you get reductions in your monthly subscription and last year I got a portable modem for laptops or notebooks.I for one can only recommend iBurst as there prices are also way below everyone else.
