iBurst regular disconnections

huh? um.. i belive the "his" is YOU. Unless I am misunderstanding, he is saying that you use a directional antenna to sort out your problems. As you dont state how you achived this feat. It makes sense, im not shure why you are angry?

No, the "his" is doublefrangelico. And Jtech is angry because AcidRazor, in his usual abrupt style has once again rubbed somebody up the wrong way with his ill-informed arrogance.

same problem or not?

After reading though many posts on the forum, it seems that there could be hope in trying many different TCP configurations using DrTCP.

I've tried so many damn things, I'm not even sure that which came first the problem or the tweaking :D

Anyway, I'm going to start the long arduous process of trying different TCP/IP settings and documenting my results.

Sounds like a quest in WoW... :p hey it is! because I have to reboot every 10 minutes lol

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the Sailor Malan of computers....but what an absolute fking nightmare it must be for the computer illiterates, if I'm chewing my tongue in frustration trying to sort this out.... My word... how does IBurst make any money if the average user has to put up with crap like this?

OK... hands up, who had to Google "Sailor Malan" ?

a handy lookup - maybe it helps in some way

OK I have an idea...

here it is.... are you listening :p

we create a list/register of as many successful IBurst users TCP settings as possible with the following details

Connecting from where
Distance from Tower
Tower name
Directional Antenna used? Y/N
USB or Ethernet
Operating system and relevant service pack details
all the DrTCP settings
favourite colour (just checking if you're concentrating ...)

Would this help anyone else, 'cos I think it would sure help me. None of the so-called algorithms to figure out the optimal MTU etc have helped me so I want to try someone else's successful settings...

It might also highlight problems in a certain area/BS.

I'll see what I can scrape together from the Forum replies and Signatures to get it started

Any suggestions/comments?

30 seconds later and my plan dies a horrible death... Signature text is not included in the searches aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

s'pose it make sense

Now I have to rely on input or trawl the forums.....

Not ill-informed arrogance, but seriously, his post helps doublefrangelico absolutely nothing and is a complete waste of everyone's time.

doublefrangelico clearly states he has upgraded his firmware, is using a directional antenna, and still gets disconnected. Then bright spark over there replies with

I have conclusively proved that:

- it is the modem hopping between basestations, and it is a different kind of disconnect than one due to poor/noisy signal.

- artificially weakening the signal from unwanted basestations solves the problem, so that the modem "sees" only one good BS and therefore sticks with it.

- the problem started on the same date they made a new basestation live.

I believe that a firmware patch is in order and therefore I have approached iBurst in this regard. Will let you know the outcome of it.

It can't be the modem hopping between basestations because doublefrangelico is using a directional antenna, so no help there.

By using a directional antenna, you don't need to artificially weaken the signal from unwanted basestations (because thats what a directional antenna essentially does)

And by stating that the problem started when they made a basestation live is AGAIN debunked BY THE FACT THAT HE IS USING A DIRECTIONAL ANTENNA.

So, excuse my "ill informed arrogance" here, but who the hell is reading what doublefrangelico said and who isn't.

As far as I'm concenred this nitwit (and your post) is totally useless. And by stating that fact I am marked as being arrogant, then fine. Fck you too.

Oh and btw, with iBurst you're able to hop between basestations without dropping your connection. Please refer to early testing done by several (more upstanding) members of myadsl. Ala, driving down the N1 downloading at 1mbps....

i give up, i surrender

I loaded UTTraceStar again to see if it could tell me anything new....

Oh and did it ever... I think it's very confused

I used to connect to Roodepoort with an 8/10 connection strength -78

noooooow it says I am connected to Kyalami Castle ..... hahahahaha the castle is 90 degrees relative to where my directional antenna is pointing. it also says the castle is 14 Km's away

suddenly it says Roodepoort is no longer the 8/10 but Kyalami castle is

somtin she is not beeg....

Why the **** should I need to load some semi-supported permanently-Beta 3rd party app anyway WTF? If it wasn't for this forum and apps like Iconnect and UTtraceStar, IBust would be dead in the water. a fish flopping on the hot sand. It's beautiful glistening scales useless in this harsh world (i'm trying for some Hemingway aggression here)

hahahaha sorry, I am just so fking frustrated by now, I am seeing exactly how fcked up the situation is.

I am paying IBurst to frustrate me. it's as simple as that.

With the anniversary of 9/11 it has dawned on me what really happened....
some dude's ISP was in the twin towers and he just had enough mwoahahahaha (evil maniacal laughter fading in the background)

OK... hands up, who had to Google "Sailor Malan" ?

My, you write alot, I dont even know what to say about your problem as I dont have, or have never had it. Sorry man..

BUT, I did not have to google Sailor Malan thanks. :P

As for Dr.TCP, I currently use the Seburn/Iburst-approved setttings, it does seem to be best. I have tried gatesrashers too, maby thats better for a amazing conenction and unshaped, it wasnt much beter for me.

ROFLMAO!!

Ok, you do have a serious problem. Sorry, if i can't remember by reading through this whole thread, but i suggest you should get a techie out to your place. I think ur problem is only applicable to you and if you have applied all the help provided here, then clearly there's no more settings to be changed.

Have you tried connecting (i mean just testing) without the directional antenna to see what happens or are your signal too weak to do that?

Something must be interfering with ur signal. You don't live on radioactive property? lol :)
