About a week ago I sent an email query to their helpdesk.
Two days later I get a (useless) response.
I sent another mail trying to get clarity - sending of this email failed. Sent to same address as first. Wtf?

And maybe mybb can do better than the iburst support agent at answering my question:
I have a desktop iBurst modem from when I used to have an account. I
stopped using the service because there were always connection
problems. A family member has offered to let me use their account to
test if anything has improved in the last 2 years, as they say their
service is good. Is it possible to setup the modem to use that account
or is it locked to the original?

(Their response... ask me for my account details  )

AFAIK, as soon as you use an iBurst modem on an account to connect to the internet, that modem gets "locked" to that account. Usually, they will need your account details to unlock the modem so that you may connect to another account. Not sure what happens in the case of you terminating your service (the modem may still be locked to the original account) but I think they will still need your original account details (whether terminated or not) to unlock the modem. Either your account details or the UTID of the modem are needed.

Note: They are able to track your connections by simply looking at your UTID, so they should be able to unlock the modem given the UTID but I'm not sure.

It is possible, you need to fill in a form and your modem can get linked to their account.
Fill in this form, and email/fax it to them.

What you are doing is transferring ownership of the modem to the family member, then you will be able to use his credentials to make a connection. You can link up to 4 modems to an account.

As to them asking for the account details, some of the prepaid modems can only be used as prepaid and not on contract.
