I have recently gone over my new 2 gig cap and have noticed that the download speeds are still cruising. I am really confused as to what IBURST wants to do from now on because they have this snippet on their website which totally contradicts themselves from the email they sent to their clients regarding their new upgrades.

"No surprises at the end of the month!

When you run out of bandwidth, we will warn you that you have reached your limit. You will then pay per Gig of extra data used – at the same rates as in-bundle! This means you will be aware of exactly how much you are spending, so no more surprises at the end of the month.

And if you DO NOT use all your data in a month, it is carried over to the next month."

In the same breath they have a booster price, what is the difference then?!

What was the email all about then saying that a person will be throttled to 64k till end of Feb 2010?

I know there are guys being throttled but the ones that don't must beware that they are not caught with their pants down - there is some serious sneakiness going on here!!

Probably because the Throttle system would break down so often, people ended up on unthrottled speed and could DL 60GB+ per month. To counter that they're probably now gonna count that as in-bundle but full speed price.

It is confusing and they seem to be covering their butts. I hope they've done away with the PPU or you may end up paying R900 per GB.

According to their migration e-mail:
Get your mouse ready for some overtime! With the new, revamped iBurst Wireless packages you get more bandwidth every month at the same or lower monthly fee, so you can do even more with your internet connection.

Of course we want our customers to get all the benefits of these new packages, to ensure you have the best possible value for money internet option out there. Therefore, we will be migrating you to one of the new packages at a slightly lower monthly fee and with a whole lot more bandwidth.

You are currently on a Giga (1 Gig) package
You will be migrated to the Wireless 2 (2 Gig) package

This means you will receive double your bandwidth each month for free!

What do I need to do to take advantage of this new offer?
Absolutely nothing! We will automatically change you over to the new package and take care of all the paperwork for you.

Benefits of the new package:

* More bandwidth
* The out of bundle rate = in-bundle rate so you pay less per gig for extra data used
* 3 Months free access to uncapped service @ speeds of up to 64kbps
* No increase in monthly subscription costs
* Data carry-over still applies

What else has changed?

* There will no longer be a pay-per-use service where you are charged per MB out of bundle
* Better value bandwidth boosters are available and charged per Gig
* Packages are no longer throttled to 64kbps once your data cap is reached. The good news however is that all customers migrating to the new packages will be able to enjoy this benefit free of charge until February 2010. Thereafter users will need to subscribe to this as an additional service

New value added services available:

* Uncapped Anytime @ up to 64kbps (Free for the first 3 months!)
* Subscription: R199 per month (applicable to packages of 5Gigs and above)
* Uncapped Anytime @ up to 128kbps
* Subscription: R249 per month (applicable to packages of 8Gigs and above)

Bits in bold interesting. Personally I think they've completely buggered up the throttle system this month. Maybe they don't care as they will be hardcapping from 1 March. I will be jumping ship before then.

There's a glitch in the system and the engineers are working on it.

Don't complain, take advantage of it...;)

You might not get that opportunity again to download 24/7 without being capped.
