iBurst Speeds - Kyalami

I've been an iBurst subscriber for the past 2 years or so. When I first got it, the speeds were pretty decent. I was using the desktop modem through a router. About a year ago the connection started going downhill. I got myself one of those flat panel antenna's which got my connection back up to the point it was at initially. Towards the begining of the year, there was a terrible storm and lightning struck somewhere close to me. Since then, i've had to point the antenna in the opposite direction (obviously towards another tower) to get decent signal (I've managed to get around 90%). However, speeds remain shocking. On average I'll get about 15kB/s download speed, and on some evenings I can hardly open a page.
I've spent a bit of time speaking to tech support at iBurst, but to no avail.
After months of poor speeds and frustration, I've finally decided to cancel my iBurst.
As much as people complain about ADSL too, I would give a key part of my anatomy to be able to get an ADSL line. Unfortunately Telkom don't seem to want to give me a telephone line. I've got 4 orders for a line with them open over a 2-3 year period but have heard nothing.

I am equally frustrated with waiting for an installation from Telkom. Has anything happened since then?

Sorry to hear about your iBurst. I have experienced extreme slow connections in Pretoria but it is much better in Johannesburg. There is a iBurst representative on the forum, maybe he can give some answers why you had such slow connections. And oh ja Telkom sucks, I hate them.
