iBurst Speeds!!

Auntie Sarah walks in, grabs uncle Landy and gives him a pat on the behind, takes him by the arm and sticks a brick of soap in his mouth! :D ;) :p Bad boy! :p ;) :D

sigh

Get ADSL

Iburst x<1024kbps - R699 (3GB)
Telkom 1024kbps<4096kbps - R554 (+-6GB)

I lurk Iburst, you lurk General ADSL ;) :D :p

haha, well that's because I'm interested in ADSL and possibly getting it. Couldn't say the same for iBurst.

Not for long with the 6GB, Telkom said themselves they will have to start hardcapping for their innovative new "uncapped" local idea.

And I pay R599 for my iBurst. I suppose most people don't want a modem lying around, but it's not even worth it on the contract anymore, the modem price came down but no change in contract subs.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I don't want Iburst. But like I told you once, these Iburst dudes have some really cool minds on them (the users), you find some cool sites that have come in handy ;) And it's cool to see other peoples frustrations, makes you feel special in some way :p

Does not matter if telkom hard cap at 3GB as in the fairly near future ADSL prices are going to drop to a fraction of what they are right now.:D

This of course is going to put iburst between a "rock and a hard place" and hopefully will be the end of "that" company, with luck some other reputable company will pick up the iburst system and charge a reasonable rate to compete with ADSL.

Unless you know about something I don't (Line rental?) bandwidth prices will be dropping, so iBurst could drop their prices accordingly.. of course I'm sure they won't stay nearly as competitive as the ADSL ISP's do.

I can't find the news release that actually gave % drops but it was a fraction of what we pay now, maybe someone else who has seen it can post the link.

Here is one link of many which indicates that it's moving in the right direction:

I'll try later to find the % link I was talking about if no one else posts it first.

I pay R599 for iBurst, and have ISDN line to my house, so I won't get away with R554

I don't follow what you're getting at unless you mean you do not have a normal phone line as well as the ISDN line.

As long as you have a phone line that will support ADSL you should be able to get the DO3 for R554

Those links usually quote 80% Mr.H, but it's for general international bandwidth, so iBurst or their bandwidth providers could make use of the same price drop. I just doubt they will, having a monolpoly on iBurst bandwidth prices, which is growing more useless everyday.

I hope by then they realise that they need to have their first significant price drop... ever.

We've both known iburst long enough to know that they won't drop their prices, if anything they'll introduce yet another package to try to catch new suckers.
They can't afford to drop prices anyway as they have all those incompetent employees and greedy shareholders to pay:rolleyes:

Doubt it, looking at their history ... they have never dropped prices to be competitive

Unless I am missing something, isn't the R554 including line rental?
My point is that it will work out more than R554 for my solution, as ISDN line rental is more expensive than normal lines
