Hi,

Does anyone have experience of using Iburst in Tableview? For 2 weeks now I've have been getting very poor connectivity, as in speeds less than what a dial-up connection would achieve.
I have read previous threads related to the issues that have been encountered over the past week in Cape Town. However, I have been getting mixed responses from WBS support. One says the connection is working perfectly, the other says repairs are still required for the entire Cape Town area (unrelated to power failures).
Can anyone shed light on the reasons why Tableview is experiencing poor connection speeds?
I have been using Iburst since November last year and had received outstanding service from a base station that was approx 12 km away. Now since the new Tableview base station was erected (3 km from me) has the level of service reduced to a snails pace. Unfortunately I am forced to use this new base station as the UTC connects automatically to it. But I can’t believe that the erection of this new base station can be the source of my new problems.

Thanks, are people really falling for this letter? Is this excuse enough to justify the fact that some of us are parting with our hard earned cash every month for half or none of a service. Only to be repaid with excuses?

Surely a no service or poor service should equal a refund? If we have consumer rights how can one apply them to a service that is currently failing to deliver?

I've had outstanding service from Iburst until Feb began. Perhaps I should be more patient. But when you pay good money for something you expect a return. If I don't get a return I'm sure I am entitled to a refund?

I don't want to run off to some other service, I think what Iburst has to offer is excellent. However we must remember they are a service provider, they are here to provide us with a service. They are not an injured animal looking for some love, the letter tries to make you feel sorry for them, a puppy in need of your support. This drives your attention away from the fact that poor planning and poor service has actually left you out of pocket in exchange for a sob story and no Internet.

I will stay loyal with Iburst but if you want to keep customers you must be loyal to them. Iburst are obliged to deliver as promised and as written in the agreement that you signed. Remember, Iburst are not doing us a favour by letting us sign up. They are to service us, its what we pay for, they are here to service and look after us. You reward customer loyalty by fixing your faults and refunding those that did not receive the agreed service. Customer service, customer loyalty and good customer relationship management are the way forward to making a successful business. If you can’t keep your customers your business will die.
However, some will agree that this point won’t affect us while we have no where else to turn. This is half the problem and why sometimes our hands are tied and we are forced to accept the service as it is. But one day when competition is booming people will vote with their feet, either to or from Iburst.

Must concur

Hi Andy

I am in the Tableview area. I posted a article on this a while ago.
I have better service from a tower 12km away that the new 4km away tower.
My old signal was 3 to 4/10 with 3 green lights on my UTD. The new tower is 8/10 with 5 solid lights, but the performance is worse that the old tower. I am thinking about just pointing my external aerial towards the old weak signal and forgetting about this new tower. The performance from it is not good.
I am very fustated seen I have been waiting for it for so long.

Unhappy ......

Winds of change

Hi Andy

After my post last night, I got the best throughput I have received on Iburst yet. !! I don't know if somebody at wbs made my wishes come true, but just after I posted my winge, I tried some more downloads from the new Tableview tower and wow. I ran a Telkom ADSL speed test, and got a result of
"Your line speed is approximately 1372.8 Kbps or 168.43 kBytes/sec".
I could not believe what I was seeing. I then tried some downloads to confirm what I was seeing. Low and behold, I averaged 115 kBytes on every download.

This is what I have been expecting from my Iburst connection all this time.

Lets just hope it stays this way ....... Holding thumbs !!!

A taste of things to come?

Hi,

You are so right! I had outstanding performance last night. I knew they had it in them to come right. Of course in the way of the universe, things always come right just after having a good moan.

Andy

I think that tower was simply not really really set up yet, it was still on the website as planned a week ago. You might have just been able to connect to it while it was being set up and no bandwidth was really allocated to it.

Well have fun now guys... you got a tower almost to yourselves for a few months.

Sssshhhhtt Don't tell anyone I like having it all to myself! :)
