Wassup,

So my setup is the following.

-UTD modem
-TP Link WAN Router
-XBOX

I have installed an external OMNI antenna to the UTD modem which is then connected to the TP Link via PPPOE and then ethernet to XBOX and SSID to wireless notebooks.

Connection is successful but the problem is that every time i adjust the MTU on TP link i either get the XBOX working fine but then the internet is slow and vice versa.

I understand that gaming requires lower latency and increasing the MTU increases the latency.I cannot go below 1364 since XBOX minimum is this size.

Speed tests show that i have a ping averaging 320ms.Download - 0.89mbs/Upload 0.25mbs.

What else can i do to improve the speed. Is there a balance MTU setting to achieve both XBOX live and internet(surfing and Skype video)?

Thanks in advance ;)

My MTU is still at 1492 (auto), and browsing and Xbox are both fine. I seem to recall some problems when I bought a new Xbox a few months back, and the connection test turned up an MTU error, but it sorted itself out on its own. o_O

Thanks but i have noticed that 1492 slows down internet.I have also noticed that if the MTU is not lekker then i get automatically disconnected from LIVE when in the middle of a game:mad:

Have TP-LINK MR3420, iBurst for WAN access with XBOX and MTU of 1352 on the router works fine.

So i tried 1492 and internet page crashes .Then i tried 1352 and XBOX doesnt connect complaining about the MTU that needs to be 1364.

What else can i do ?

Try 1392 - I got iBurst and Cell C on my router. Both work. MTU for iBurst is 1392. MTU for Cell C is 1480. Tested XBOX connect. Both work.

That's probably more likely to be a NAT problem.

Hey there .Sorry for the late reply.I have called TP Link and opened up ports on the router which has now stabilised the XBOX connection.Still getting poor latency.

Need to extend my omni antenna to the highest point and raise with a pole.Has anyone tried a panel antenna?Buddy gave it to me but not sure if its better.
