Lately my iBurst Upload Speed ranges from terrible to non-existent. Using the iBurts speed test (http://www.iburst.co.za/default.aspx?link=account_speedtest) I get the following results:
Quality of Service – 80%
Round Trip time – 133 ms
Max Pause – 406 ms
Download Speed – 275 kbps
Upload Speed – 2.33 kbps
I’m based in Cpt and have similar results in the PineLands, Newlands and CBD area. I use a new usb modem on my notebook (XP) and a desktop modem with my home pc (Apple). I have also tested using somebody else’s PC, username and desktop modem in the CBD area with similar results.
My upload connection never used to be this slow, and I noticed the problem last week. The iBurst support has not been able to help, and the last reply from them noted that they will get a local technician to contact me. I have already tried using DRTCP021.exe and adjusting the MTU setting to 1352. I have uninstalled, re-installed and restarted many times without success. I am convinced that it is not a PC/setup issue, but an iBurst performance issue?
With this upload speed smtp is almost impossible and browsing is very slow.
Does anyone experience the same problem? Is there a way to resolve it? Or is it a case of eventually cracking (iBurst-user since trial) and switching to 3G?
