Hey... anyone else getting funky usage readings?

For the first 5 days of the month my usage read 0.0 MB and now suddenly the iBurst usage page tells me a figure that is 625 MB higher than my IPCOP router claims. I want my 625 MB back, damnit!!!

Normally my router is within 1-2 MB of the iBurst figure by the end of the month, which is pretty accurate I feel.

Anyone else getting suspicious readings?

Well the usage would have read 0.0 for the first five days becasue you never disconnected, which indicates that you might have stayed connected from last month, then what can happen is that your bandwidth you used in the last session of last month can be counted as this months usage.

There was a thread about this warning users to log out before 12pm on the last day of the month to avoid this.

Hmm, just checked my PPPoE connect logs - You're right, connection ran over from last day of month until the fourth. Well that sucks =)

Thanks for the help though...

In that vein, what script can I add to my DD-WRT powered WRT54GL router to automatically reset the connection at the beginning of the month? Anyone?

Raithlin,

I think it's best to contact the manufacturer of your router, they normally email you back the same day. Just go to their web site and look under support for contact details.

And yet... and yet.... go over your cap and they know the instant it happens. I'm sure accurate, up to the minute monitoring is a possibilty. Whenever there is a several day lag in the bandwidth monitor I think I've been robbed. I probably haven't but that is the impression it creates.

Fix this, please, Iburst.
