My (and our customers) usage stats have been at the same values since 3rd March - called iBurst and it took me 2 days to convince them I was right!
Eventually iburst said "we are working on it..."
One customer showed 70MB available but he couldnt connect (as he actually had 0MB), so he bought a Booster and 4 days later it is still not reflecting on stats or usage emails (but can now connect).

So be careful, the stats are wrong but if you exeed usage you will be hard-capped, or rate-limited.

Hi guys,

Apologies for this, we have a team working on this over the weekend and hope to have an early week resolution.

Hi Shaun,
Good to see you here more regularly.

I also looked at those e-mails with suspicion but took it at face value. So I double checked with the web site - same figures...

Seems like (at least the web site) is fixed today...
Point is that iBurst charges customers for bandwidth used.
And if iBurst supplies their customers with false or misleading information regarding their usage, iBurst ahould 'give-back' the bandwidth they initially claimed customers did not use.
That would be the only fair thing to do to an already irate customer base would it not?

What about the persons on a very small cap? (but that is not the point...)

Hi Gecko

The bandwidth monitoring system was working correctly. It was the Web interface that was not updating.

i.e. You were sitting on 1 gig available according to the web site. On the same day you used 1.5 gig. It would put you into a capped status however the web site would still have indicated 1 gig available.

I have been notified about 10 minutes ago that this has been repaired. I checked my usage and concor.

All seems ok now.

Cheers

Hi Shaun,

Well thanks for the reply in any event.
I meant it when I said is good to see you on this forum regularly.
At least it feels like somebody is listening.

Best Wishes,
Deon

Some weird usage comming through on my iBurst Usage report.

Was out of town this weekend, PC/iBurst switched off and pulled out of the wall socket (I don't trust JHB thunderstorms). I plugged everything back in after we got home yesterday evening, but was too tired to switch on my pc. This morning I get to work and check my emails. The usage report of 07/03/2009 says 948.56mb remaining, the usage report of 08/03/2009 says 948.56mb remaining, but the usage report of 09/03/2009 says 775.47mb remaining.

Went back to 03/03/2009 and started tracking the emails, and it seems as if I had exactly the same problem as Gecko and BillyBoy.

Luckily I read myBB, else I would've sent an email complaining about it. That would've taken 3 weeks to get resolved, just to say that it was a problem with the values not updating. Maybe when iBurst picks up a problem like this, they should actually communicate it to their customers.

On the upside, I'm glad to see Shaun/iBurst spending some time on the forum, and that over a weekend nogals :D

Usage stats seem to have been fixed. But customers confused as suddenly huge amounts of bandwidth used since last email.

Hi all

Unfortunately the bandwidth reports you received were inaccurate.

this mornings was the first accurate account of bandwidth in a few days.

This would mean that you could suddenly have a huge drop in your available bandwidth seen as it was not been correctly reflected of the website or your mailed reports.

Glad this is solved

I'm a little confused by my usage...cause this whole month my iburst has been really slow so I haven't downloaded anything because even pages were struggling to load and yet somehow I've used almost double my cap?

I understand when you say Shaun that even though we haven't had access to the usage page it has still been working but I seriously have only been browsing for this last week and even at throttled speed then surely pulling another 700meg without downloading is a little out of the ordinary at 64kbps?

Hi all

Depending on the quality of signal your variance in throughput, retries, lost packets etc. will effect your bandwidth usage quite a bit.

e.g. you send a mail of 500KB, however in that small session you will possible use 1.7 MB to do the task.

The better the quality of the signal the less retries etc.

Sight - Please contact me regarding this and I will assist further.

I see, that could explain it.

Thanx for all your quick replies Shaun :)

I checked my bandwith today on www.iburst.co.za and I am capped at the moment and I checked my bandwith last week on Friday and had about 8gig left, somehow I lost 3 or 4 gig of bandwith

Morning Hein

This was due to the web site reporting not being updated.

No user encountered loss, just incorrect reporting from the web site and mail notifications.

Cheers
