Hi there!

I have vista 64-bit home premium but i am unable to use my Iburst USB modem as there does not seem to be 64-bit drivers available for it anywhere!! Everybody says they will be released but i don't think they will because it has been ages now.

How can there simply not be drivers available??? I have searched the net to no avail. Every time someone asks this question the answer is "sorry there aren't any - to bad"

I would really appreciate any help in getting drivers that would let me use my iburst!

Thanks in advance

Sorry sport, you're up the creek without a paddle/barking up the wrong tree/a fart in a perfume factory/...etc. Your query now got me curious (my next install is due to be 64bit) so I went digging and, having landed here realised (deep down I knew it was always futile anyway...) acknowledged that I have better things to do than to waste my time trying for Vista64 drivers ..now I have to rethink my strategy for my mobile itBust usage, dammit!

And in case you're wondering, Kyocera are the people who make the iBurst hardware in the first place. Oh, and a belated welcome to MBB! :D

OK, all of the above notwithstanding, a quick GOOG turned up this pdf on the first hit. OK, found this link too (see reply #5, by "adheeslev") ..which, in turn, leads to Red Ball Internet install instructions. Which seem to have some kind of officially sanctioned 64-bit drivers ..go figure! Note that we're going to shelve the sheer idiocy of the local [-]cretins[/-] *gag.choke.cough* "support" not knowing a DAMN thing about this.

(NOW I want to see some [-]sucker[/-] brave soul other than me give 64-bit drivers a go to see if it's viable!) :D

Give it a go if you're inclined to hack away at it, but bear in mind that you ARE on your own: YMMV, it may work it even more likely may toast your system. But if you break your box, you can always come back to MBB to ask for help on fixing THAT!

Evening all

We are testing the 64 bit drivers and should have them cleared soon for distribution.

Cheers

Hmmmm....that's what you guys said to me ages and ages ago.... how long ago was vista 64-bit released?

Anyway...u guys can just use the ones from bdt's post. They work fine so just at least put them up on your site so that other poor sod's like me don't have to wait another year or two to get their iburst working while 64-bit drivers are being "tested".

Interesting thread. 64Bit is out for ages and iBurst is only doing testing now? iBurst out laughing and battled to stop. No wonder their market share and reputation nose dived.

Anyway @bdt

Any other unique 64 bit drivers you know about?

I have the new version PCMCIA iBurst modem and my system is also 64bit compliant. Needless to say, due to lack of driver support for the modem, i'm using a 32bit OS. Red Ball Internet seem to only have 64bit support for the desktop and USB modems. If you guys know of any other way I can get get hold of 64bit drivers for my modem, I'll really appreciate it! Thanks.

That's because the PCMCIA modems as well as the ExpressCard modems are pretty much being discontinued, so don't hold your breath for non-standard drivers to surface.

But there's always this option: Sell/swap/barter your modem and get a Desktop modem or USB modem instead, then arrange with the logistics department to do a "device swap" on your user account.

Note: You can have two modems assigned to an iBurst user account and both can be connected to the Internet simultaneously, so a device swap isn't always necessary.

By the way, you don't need a driver for the Desktop modem thanks to its Ethernet port. (But get the driver anyway because if lightning takes out the Ethernet port then you can at least connect via the USB port!)

I already have 2 modems on my account. A desktop modem and a PCMCIA modem for my laptop. The problem is that I take my laptop with me to work often, and using the desktop modem is a pain because of having to use external power. Anyway, thanks for the info. Maybe iBurst will surprise us and release 64bit drivers for all their devices. BTW, I'm currently running Windows 7 on my laptop and using the Vista driver for the PCMCIA modem. I just ran the driver installer in compatibility mode for Vista and it works perfectly. Been running it like that since the end of December. No problems so far.

Hi thank you Dude!

I now have a collection of supposedly iburst Windows 7 drivers of which only the one on the link named ‘iBurst_Terminal_v340_7_64bits” worked. Not even the one named “iBurst_Terminal_v340_64bit” on the iburst website worked!!!

Baie dankie weer, cheers.
