iburst VERY slow

no on thier website they mention 60ms - 70ms, and not stable, just that an average could be achieved with the right conditions. It's not how low can it go but how low + stable can it go, you must remember Kyocera were talking about pings to the nearest node at the ISP, gamers want to know the ping to the server they play on which is at best a few hops away from that first node.

Clarification

Hi guys,

For a decent online gaming experience with hungry fps, what kind of ping would you need?

This doesn't look to bad, does it? Just about the same after seven. Why is BF2 so sluggish.Keeps telling me that i have a problem with my connection, must look like i'm having some kind of "fit" in the middle of the battlefield, then play fine for 30 sec's and then agian "there is a problem with your connection".

Always get good download speeds, wonderboom tower. The "UNHelpdesk" is just ignoring me....

Could it be how it's setup on my pc. UTD, ethernet into switch. haven't played to much with MTU settings, should i give that a try?

for acceptable sub 60 to the server, i'm talking something fast paced like doom 3 or really most fps's but lower is always better. those pings above arent really anything great, but would be OK for games like tony hawks pro skater, strategy games and racing games, but FPS... not really.

Were you downloading somethign when doing those pings? because downloading will slow down pings.

I wish

I wish i got pings like that while downloading... :p

Guess i'm just gonna have to give up on FPS. Thanks for all the help guys, it's really appreciated... :D

I like my iBurst but if I were an avid multiplayer gamer I would play LANS only or get ADSL because some problems people experience with iBurst can be fixed but this isn't one of them, even people with the good iBurst connections (whether they are minority that swordfish suggest repeatedly with every post in every thread to the point of exhaustion or the majority, which may very well be possible) will have problems with FPS games, not all the time perhaps but they wouldn't be able to say play for 24 hours on an international server with no problems at all, somewhere during the day the probs will creep in. Rustic if gaming is what you wanna do, get ADSL dude

Just by looking at the pings you posted you can already see it's not meant for FPS gaming. It jumps erratically from 440ms to 210ms and back. Even though it's "stable" (stable to me these days is around 1ms difference)

yeah my pings jump about 10ms, thats good with iBurst but i still wouldn't consider it for FPS's
