Hi All

My sister in law's Cybersmart gear arrived yesterday... and she asked me to set it up this AM. So...

1st impressions.

well, I am sitting with the crap iBust connection on one laptop (signal strength 100% and only been disconnected 3 times so far this hour)... and cybersmart wired to another.

iBust faster for browsing... but Cybersmart waaay faster for downloading.

iBust Mediafire = 10 - 14KBs / CS = 39 - 55 KBs
iBust Rapidshare = could not get on / CS not less than 44 KBs
iBust Megaupload = 32KBs / CS not less than 79KBs

Apart from the Cybersmart gang forgetting to save her username and password when they configured the router... no problems yet.

I DO indeed think that her iBust hell is over.

If only Cybersmart did not use the crap mecer wired router. Wireless rules and should have been an option.

But still, quite impressed thus far...:) :) :)

P.s. From Application to browsing, 9 days in total. 7 working days. Not bad.

I can't wait to switch over to ADSL, if nothing else than for the cheaper bandwidth. I cannot understand why on earth iBurst hasn't dropped their prices yet... jeez.

I was messing around with Vodacom HSDPA 3.5G and it's dog slooooowwwww!

Mobile browsing sucks....

Yup Donovan... MUCH cheaper and FASTER. My SIL paying R259 per month INCLUDING ADSL rental. MUUUUUCH cheaper than the iBust offering. Also, R70 top-up per GB versus R200.

I always have been an ADSL nay-sayer 'cause of Telkom, but after having 1st hand experience of the ease of installation and speeds... I am impressed.

I was fiddling yesterday with a 384 Adsl connection and it was WAAAAAy faster than the iBust link. Consistent (Interesting to see too how MANY sites iBust throttle! ADSL flew. iBust waddled).

I think that once an iBust user experiences ADSL speeds and savings, they will never use iBust again. My SIL is one of these.:o

Also, remember that IBurst busts the initial part of your request, and then throttles you down to a lower rate.
Hence the word ... BURST ... in the protocol name.

I really do hope your sister will be watching her bank account like a hawk as soon as she terminated her iBurps contract...

Yiiiikes

Yikes...

I will warn her.

Thanks for the reminder!!!
