Hi there

I got iBurst yesterday and now have internet access at home

Telkom speed test (of which a screendump I will post tonight) came out at 868kbit/sec I downloaded 13 megs of PDF file from my website in the time it took me to have coffee.

I am happy with the service. Everything I run on the internet, works fine!

What are the DNS servers for iBurst. Does anyone know?

Regards,
Kei

196.46.70.1 is the one in Cape Town that I'm currently using but your connection should pick it up dynamically.

Glad to hear that your iburst is working :)

In other news this morning I've finally managed to get capped and am pleased to say that the speeds are definitely better than dialup. Compared to the ADSL cap this one is loads better.

oh like wow 13MB in the time it took to have a coffee. Look dude glad you're happy but dont post the screeny, we've all seen it before and 80KB/s is nothign to write home about

Oh so now I see what the problem is, you lot want fiber optic 155Mbit SDH circuits to your homes?

Thanks for once again making me feel like an idiot

rofl, yes I do actually, 155mbit would do niceley

Kei, enjoy the speed but I think my problem is I've gotten used to it, my jaw used to drop when I saw 120KB/s and I was like "OMG I'm doing this on a home connection" but now I'm like "WTF 117KB/s, WTF is that, now its gonna take 7 minutes more to pull through this 500MB file"

You'll end up the same

then you'll get capped and wait patiently for the following month ;)

pfft... my "speeds" are absolutely atrocious! I keep on getting timeouts and it's just so ridiculously slow that I end up giving up on a page, instead of waiting for it to load.

"Throttled"? - yep! to death!

The only problem I have in fact is that WinGate doesn't want to work with the iBurst connection and in fact interferes with it. Removed it and am now looking for a better internet connection sharing solution

I doubt I will be using my 3 gig this month. I am not home that often.

That would be some flavour of Linux, Net-, Free- or OpenBSD with NAT...

Ciao

our you could get an router/gateway

Thanks, already solved the problem with a new version of Qbik WinGate, which is PPPoE aware and adjusts your MTU accordingly without you having to do it
