Hi guys

Now I dont know if its iBurst or wow but maybe you can help me please.

When I'm in wow I get insane latency, for instance standing still in ogrimar I get a latency of 4000ms+, the lag is bad on all my char on all realms, I really don't know what is going on and I'm starting to think that its iburst or maybe something wrong with my wow client or pc.

I normally have good ping but just after patch my game has become unplayable.

I have repaired my wow, doen trouble shooting but nothing is working

I'm at wits end sob sob. .

Well, WoW over iBurst frequently does lag like a tortoise on valium, especially when you're capped, and entering a busy city like Dala, SW, or Ogrimmar is just looking for trouble. And patch days are notorius for high pings.
I'm still getting nasty spikes myself, frequently 1200ms+ in instances, but hopefully it should settle down over the next few days, so hang in there. Try getting hold of Shaun though - drop him a pm with your details - as he's looked into high latency issues before for myself and others before, and maybe there's something he can do for you.

Sorry I don't have anything more constructive to offer than that.

What area are you in?

Shaun put some people in Jo'burg on static IPs to help with the latency, apparently this is not necessary in Cape Town.

My son plays WoW, he says its fine, even when capped. If I try and do anything else on our shared internet connection, like browsing the web or checking email, he shouts "LAG!" from the other room.

Yup. The statics do work for WOW gaming. Aske the rep to assist you with getting one. Hope you are not in the Cape. Then the static will not help. Check your quality of signal using putty. Could have some noise on the RF.

I'm glad to see you are still helping out like this Shaun...but you do know that there is a new iBurst rep now right ;)

Thank you all for your feedback.

Will try and get a hold of the new rep to get me a static ip.

Thanks again

Yes, but since then I think Shaun may already more posts than the new rep ;)

I think you're rite:whistle:

@tp3to try creating a character on the "US Central PvE Vek'nilash server". It's the only server that I've found which has a decent latency:cool:

You see I can loaf around, my ping a little stable now and then cast a few spells and bam! it hits me. Whole wow freezes and then rubber bands back. As if I had a huge Lag spike. Maybe there is something wrong at the base station or Im getting some interference. And yeah can also be wow. Been strugeling with this prob since wednesday but dont really think iburst is to blame. Because my friend also with an iburst acount loged into my acount and he didnt have lag. . .so yeah. No wow for me this vacation.

Well maybe its a good think. I think I'll go out and see whats so special about the Sun, people say the heat feels good on the skin.

One thing that bothers me.

Can a iburst connection be affected electro magnetic fields from my router and/or printer?

Ive placed my modem kinda between my router and printer, would that be effecting my connection?

It shouldn't, particularly not the printer - it's not a transmitting device. The router is a maybe, if it's wireless and the frequencies are in a similar range, but I don't imagine they are.
Maybe try re-installing your wow client? It'll be a severe pain in the ass to download the patches again, and tbh I don't know that it'll make any difference, but as a last resort it's something to try.

Can you get your modem into the window? If you can, get it there.

Will improve the quality of signal.

Cheers

as you can see some of the time (when I have lag spike) I get congested packets or lost of packets. . .

lol Shaun. At this rate it looks like you'll still be the forum support/rep for a while. The new res just dont seem to be interested, maybe you just set the bar to high for them :D

OT: Have you tried the US Vek'nilash server tp3to?

I play on the europe realms so in order for me to make a char on the us servers I would have to download the entire us client again.. . . Iburst won't like that very much

lol oh. well me and all of my mate play on that server with no problems so i thought i'd suggest it

Sigh . .

Ive run now every single test I could and it all points to iburst.

Basicly my line is ok but Im getting lag spikes. It could be a steady 50kbs and then drops to 1kbs or lower and goes back up again, and its not just WoW I get lag spikes in every sinlge online game, even call of duty 4.

I called the iBurst hulpdesk but it didn't really help, instead they loaded me with a static IP (Not the one from wow like I asked) and will be billed now for it.

Shaun why did you leave .

But Shaun I know your not with iburst anymore but could you please, Please just inform them what static IP should be given to me. Because the one they loaded doesn't even work >.<.

I don't know what to do anymore. Normal internet browsing isn't effected but any game that needs a steady connection is impossible to play.

And it isn't throttling! >.< Ive played wow a year with throttling and it never gave me this problem.

But the one thing that makes my blood boil is holding the line for a assistant to help you (30min minimum)
Then you tell them your problem and try to explain to them that its really this problem and not something els (did you plug the modem in?) lol things like that. (20 min)
Holding the line (15min in total)
Getting them to explain stuff that you already know (10min)

so tell me iburst you gonna pay my phone bill?? ummm
