I am a oversea university student. 5 years ago, when I just arrive in South Africa, the biggest problem is internet connection. I was struggling a lot on it. Until March 2009, I found there is a very good internet service called iburst providing 1 gig fast internet speed and throttled after 1 gig finished, it is slow but you still can use it. This is so incredible and I have never seen this in any internet service provider in SA.
Although it is incomparable to our country's connection service, I chose iburst and signed 2 year contract. I have never sign anything like that long, because I trusted iburst would satisfy my need. But it fails me. I still can't believe iburst change my contract to something called wireless2 option which give me 2 gig and cancelled throttled service.
I then went to Iburst Menlyn in Pretoria and asked them how can you change my contract? the lady said because in contract we said if we give you early notice we can change whatever we want to change. And I asked her: "so, are you saying if you give me a notice that iburst will just draw 239 Rand from my account and giving me 1MB per month then I have to accept it?" She anwsered without thinking: "yes! but we won't do that." sigh, tell me HOW DO I KNOW IF THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN IN FUTURE?
If there is anyone working for iburst here reading this message, let me tell you something: I loved iburst because 1) uncapped: even it is slow, but I still can login MSN, receive email and browse web pages. 2) portable: when I move to another place, I can still have connection. 3) friendly service and help desk. And now, look at it on your own, no uncapped, terrible help desk. And my contract is now will end in 2037 as iburst web page shows? That is so ridiculous!!
You may say: So what do you want? Okay, 1) I want to change the contract back to Giga which is 1 gig + throttled. 2) Change my contract time to the right time! That is all I want, I don't think that is unreasonable.
