I am tempted to recommend iBurst to an associate who cannot get adsl, but do not want to recommend a lemon. I have heard rumours about a lucrative takeover that has not materialised, and more rumours about how the massive advertising campaigns have eaten a lot of cash. Can anyone point me to any recent financial statements, or does anyone have any inside track on how stable the company is likely to be?

Thanks.

iBurst financial positions is very vague.
A bit of history: iBurst use to operate as WBS and badly managed, sometime during the first quarter of 2006 Blue Label Investements bought shares from Gtech a foreign company.

They have been aggressive in their marketing & deployment of new basestations, which might have lead to financial constraints.

At the moment I'm not 100% sure of the deal between iBurst and Vodacom .

According to these article they have been granted a Wimax Spectrum license

Going back to your original question: iBurst's Financial Position? : i will love to know too

iBurst not being a public company means that getting their financial information would be extremely difficult

lol that is a strange question if you are looking to utilize their service I would expect questions like would i get reception at the clients places etc...

Oi, rumours abound.

I know nothing here, other than to point out that as I understand it, the recent deal between Vodacom included options to expand on the initial 10%.

I know you are just looking into it, but basically if you are worried about signing up with a company that will go bust, you dont have much to worry about.

The are doing quite well it seems, and if they can get over some problems they face now with congestion, and they are trying, then all should be well :)

Speaking of problems EHV, have the Cape Town issues been fixed? I've been away for a while and I'm a bit behind the time right now.

Why? Does not help signing up with a provider who is about to go iBust!
as I stated it's a strange request :) 1st perrson that's requested about the financial position instead of problems/connection speed :)

Well not for me. I always ask about companies if I intend signing up for a future service ( in this case on behalf of someone else ). If more people did, there would be less heartache - think Health & Racket (sic) Club, whose ex-members are still being hounded by debt-collectors for 6-year old debt for a service they could not use. You can get suckered if you like. Plenty morons running businesses out there.

In any event, I have found a local wireless alternative.

Yes, please tell. What is their financial position like?

lol. I would assume that any small WISP he could be using as a alternative must have a much less stable financial position than iBurst.

Unless it is Sentech (okay maybe not) or HSDPA.

How do you reckon that? Smaller companies with well managed finances can be a lot more stable than bigger companies when they start running out of cash. Why all this defence of iBurst? Do you have ANY factual knowledge of their cash-flow position? Or do you just not understand much about business?
