A quick lesson for CWU...

This is a calendar.

You need to actually perform to qualify for a performance bonus.

The bonus can only be paid after the employee has been assessed for the entire period under review.

Incorrect approach, rather tell CWU employees to colour in the days they actually worked with a box full of white crayons and then tell them they will be assessed on the days they actually did any work.

Some of us pay our staff in advance for the xmas bonus (so they can spend it on holiday, or gifts or what ever they care to spend it on during xmas).

In October already??? Never heard of anyone doing that! End of November is reasonable, but mid December is the norm surely?

Striking about a bonus??? Its a bonus, i.e. not part of your normal package as in subject to the management discretion and you doing more than just your job. Then again if these are just the low level guys and the ICASA management are actually getting bonuses paid then the strike is fair. The ICASA top lot really don't deserve anything until there is some sort of tangible output from them, I don't care how tough the DoC have made things.

Seems like the new ANC excuse when you caught with your pants down, smear campaign, only thing that smears is the *** since all the toilet paper is stolen. ANC elite have interests in Telkom, who are buddies with ICASA as to not bring in competition or value to the consumer. It is a big circle where every pats the next one on the shoulder for great work. Seriously ICASA is useless.

It would be better to dismantle the DoC - a refusal to let ICASA be independent is the problem

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) went on strike last week (28 October – 1 November 2013), with some staff still picketing on Monday, 4 November 2013.

So the strike was last week 28th to the 1st, and some staff were picketing on the 4th?
Seems as though, as with most things, ICASA missed their own deadline again.

Since Icasa doesn't really work, is this really a strike? :/

What difference does it make whether anyone goes to work at ICASA or not? They do nothing all day anyways.

The staff might as well stay home, ICASA might be more productive.....

Correction from Icasa: Icasa's spokesperson has informed MyBroadband that the reference to their performance bonuses as "Christmas" bonuses was incorrect. The erroneous seasonal qualifier has been removed.

Makes sense, the probability of ICASA employees performing anything / being productive, decreases exponentially as time advances from January to December.
