Theres a saying that if you put a room full of monkeys infront of typewriters and then have them bash away at the keys that eventually one of them will randomly produce the works of Shakespeare.

The seems they were also used to write up the new radio communications act. For instance, the previous 100mWatt limitation in the 2.4GHz spectrum has now been raised to 100 M watt ( Mega watt ). Consider that your microwave oven, which also uses 2.4GHz only needs 1.5Kwatt ( and some even less ) to cook your food. Clearly this is a mistake, but one that slipped through even AFTER all the comment hearings were done and supposedly AFTER someone got paid a small fortune to proofe read it. As a tax paying citizen i want my money back becasue the work was clearly not done.

The document is rotten to the core with spelling mistakes and undefined definitions. What is erp ? It should be EIRP you nitwit. Go read up on the SI standards, big M is mega and little m is mili. Its not rocket Science

Please provide a definition of "free tuning" or at least state what you meant rather than what you wrote.

The class-B ZU licensees now need to be over the age of 20. Another glaringly obvious mistake. I'm assuming you meant under 20, and then the upgrade to class-A at 25.

Even though im dyslexic im pretty sure i can do a better job of proof reading your revision to this absurd waste of paper.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is not a draft regulation, this was gazetted yesterday and is LAW. So go ahead and fry thy neighbour with your 100 Megawatt 2.4GHz transmissions. Maybe we should point our antennas at the gov't buildings...

PS - the new regs are visible on the SARL website http://www.sarl.org.za

I am still playing with the idea of a Tesla coil for the house but the neighbours have quite a few cats so might get some complaints about that...

hmm 1 April.

I checked...one can't get the full gazzette online for free (which is retarded). The contents page of the PDFs on the SARL website is definitely the real deal though. So "Electronic Communications Act (36/2005): Final Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations" was really gazetted yesterday.

Given that the SARL page is right on that I'm inclined to think there is no April 1 joke here. :(

It reads "100 Mw eirp." If one reads it closely then it doesn't read Mega Watt because Watt uses a capital W as SI unit. i.e. Its definitely wrong, but its not MW either.
