ICASA's iBurst network raid: costs and damage

"The estimated damage, said Mtshali, does not take reputation damage and subsequent loss of business into account."

What reputation? They have been a joke since the day they got started. There really isn't much reputation to save.

The biggest blow to their reputation will come from those server rack photos. What'a dog's breakfast. That's no way to organize a multibillion rand NETWORK company's core networking equipment.

Only physical damage I see is the badly bent rack bracket on the catalyst in the first photo.
Cables are a bit of a mess, but without the benefit of "before" photos, it's difficult to say.

Such as?

Who would let them in to the data center? Call the police for trespassing..

Do the fees not relate to the wireless hardware? Why would they take core equipment?

They apparently had the Sheriff with them along with the right paperwork
They apparently have the right to remove equipment. Many years back a company I know set up a building to building wireless data link.
ICASA arrived and took away the equipment.

ICASA might not be efficient but they have legal teeth.

re: the outstanding License Fees even iBursts statements wrt accurate invoices dont make sense.
Whatever the the dispute there is always an Undisputed amount and a Disputed amount.
When your supplier (in this case ICASA) has lots of power (to disconnect you) one pays the undisputed amount and makes it clear what the undisputed amount is for (In the Remittance Advice)

You then have the ability to argue in court that you are acting in good faith.

The bs tactic of "I am not paying anything until my invoice is 100% correct" is unethical and frankly dishonest

I was just being a network hardware snob... But still, an RB1100?
