Has anyone managed to start a multi-user video conference using iChat?

I'm a little bit confused as to the requirements to host this type of chat.
I see that the minimum internet speed required is 384Kbps up and down, pretty much ruling out every internet offering in SA.

I'm also struggling to get it going using Bonjour connections on my lan. I get a "Your computer is not capable of initiating a multiperson video chat" error. But I can't figure if it doesn't like the MBP or if the fast ethernet connection is the problem?

Any ideas?

hmmmmmmmm ........ you gotta do some reading & trial & error but all i know is that chicks look real hot on ichat on a apple mac compared to on windows OS :P

Hope this helps get you through this not so tough time getting this to work on an apple mac compared to the real tough time youll have on windows XP :)

I don't think that it will work over ADSL in SA since the downstream speeds are so low.

What I'm confused about is if the spec is for dual processor intels - though my reading of the spec seems to suggest any single processor intel should do.

Second issue is my lan bandwidth should be ok when using bonjour connections in ichat i.e no need for .mac aim or jabber accounts. I probabbly gotta get all the machines connecting via ethernet cable on the gigabit switch to be sure.

The spec on the page is for "Dual 1GHz G4, any G5 or Intel Core" - where did you see one for dual intels?

The lan bandwidth will be more than adequate.

I think it was in the iChat help that I saw a reference to "dual G5, or Intel core"... wasn't able to track it down again - must have misread.

So the problem remains - it should be working on the network - but it isn't. Anyone else managed to get it working?
