iChat

Any of you MAC users having problems with iChat resently getting videoconferencing going??
Been having iChat problems for a while now but I suspect its something to do with uunet.

Everything use to work fine on my unshaped 512 line untill i "upgraded" to 1024 and change from the white 4port to the black 5100....hmmm! Had telkom "complain" to saix about blocking ports....but nothing so far.... :(

Got port forwarding sorted? You can always set your mac running ichat as the dmz to test.

Remember you're talking about a lot of different ports that need to be forwarded -

TCP/IP: 5190,5220,5222,16384-16403, and
UDP 5060,5190,5678. (http://portforward.com/cports.htm)

also experiencing iChat video/audio problems with telkom adsl 5100

Hi

Just want to confirm that I am also experiencing problems doing video/audio chat via iChat AV with Telkom ADSL 5100 router. I haven't tried port forwarding as I don't want to go the route of static IP. I looked for a firewall setting on the router but could not find one. Has anyone got video/audio via iChat together with Telkom ADSL 5100 to work? Could you tell me how? What are my options?

Btw, connecting an airport express to the router and running ichat via wifi works with video and audio as it should. Problems only come in once connected directly to Telkom router via ethernet.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure about that particular modem but have you tried establishing your mac as a dmz? It would lower the security on the machine but the built-in firewall in OsX is fairly robust and the current mac threats are somewhat limited.

Found the FIX , everyone who has a 5100 will have to go back to the Marconi 4port in order to have iChat to work!!! Took lots of calls to Telkom and some help from a great Telkom Tech/Network specialist (Thanks Michael!) ....so I change out my 5100 and all is perfect again!

Mines not a marconi and it works fine. In fact I've never had a router issue wrt services that wasnt solved by port forwarding or creating a dmz.
