iCloud - find my iPad 2 not working

For some reason I can't seem to make find my iPhone work. On the iPad Find My iPad is activated under iCloud, and under Location Services.

It is a 3G iPad 2, but I have never had a simcard installed in it - thus far I'm only using Wifi. I'm hoping for 8ta to bring out dual sims.

When I typed in the password in the iCloud settings on the device it verified it, so it should be right.

It is a 3G iPad, so it does have a GPS in. But I've thought about that, and tested it while using maps on the iPad, so it had accurate location information. I cannot remotely lock the iPad either.

Also, I've tested it with various routers, in various countries, with networks both public and hidden.

Of course. Google also got into some hot water because they were capturing some data from the wifi networks they were logging.

I saw somewhere on the net that Google will not include your wifi on their database if you change the SSID. e.g. if it's "mybroadbandwifi" then changing it to "mybroadbandwifi_nomap" will then flag the SSID. So, appending the _nomap to an SSID will sort that problem out.

What I was trying to do when I found this out was: How do I find my own wifi on a google map?

I keep finding info about US and UK wifi but nothing usable for SA.
