Got to bed at 12h50 - couldn't wait for this morning - had to do upgrade last night...

The download was slow but the upgrade was smooth - no issues, no problems - all settings, layouts and applications migrated across with zero intervention. Was too tuckered out to play much last night but it's looking good.

Kudos to Acer for a well implemented upgrade.

Of course, the inevitable question that will be asked now is "Do we get JB when it comes out?" :) :D

Damn it is now lightning fast, not that I would say that Honeycomb was slow. But playing with it last night the first thing I noticed was how fast it was in general.

Damn, it seems to have broken The Sims Freeplay. Randomly starts screen-glitching - stops responding, until I force close it. Tried reinstalling, same thing. Definitely related to the upgrade from HC to ICS, but I think its just shoddy coding on the developer's part. All the other high end games/apps works well.
Not sure whether losing the Sims is a good or bad thing - what a glorious time sink it is.

@ AfricanTech - what cover did you get? Got a link? I need to get a cover.

@ ZAFluffyBunny - Do they have it on special again? Go for it, its an excellent tablet. I grabbed two the last time it was on special!

Ta AfricanTech. Order sent :)

It's a pleasure - scary thing is how much that cover would cost if sold here probably at least double!

PS: Such a relief to have the tab in a cover - it's amazing how vulnerable it feels without a cover.

How rough are you guys with your tablets. All be it that mine spends most of its time at home I haven't got a scratch on it yet and it has been almost a year now. And every now again our 15 month old daughter gets a hold of it and still no scratches or marks.

Mine tends to slip from my hands often, when I'm lying flat back on my bed, so I'm hoping the cover would also give me more to grip.
Been looking around for a cover in SA - found lots but in the R400 to R600 price range. Also ordered the Android BT keyboard to try that out. Cant wait! Most of my family are overseas, so I spend a lot of time on Gtalk and Skype etc. The Swype beta onscreen keyboard is great, but I just type faster with a physical keyboard.

Mine hardly leaves my bed :) The charger is permanently plugged in on my bedside table. So I think I'm fairly gentle on mine. A month old and no scratches or nicks yet. Once I get my keyboard, I can see myself taking this out with me for work, tho. (Thanks to Google Drive, Dropbox and Skydrive)

What do you guys use your tablets for?

Very gentle and the kids aren't allowed to play with it.

Vulnerability arises because it leaves home to go to work and back (including flights) and of course between offices and buildings when at work - that's how the scratch must have been picked up.

Will definitely help with grip - the inside has a nice suede feel and when folded back gives you good purchase for your hands. When lying in bed it doesnt slip when propped against your legs.

Oh, and 'cos the flap is magnetic, a quick flip and properly closed.

Local pricing is ridiculously expensive.

The Apple iMac keyboard (the short one) works brilliantly - I had an unused one that now sits on my desk at work, connects via BT, and voila.

Got the update for my A501 to ICS (4.0.3) this morning. About 200MB download. No problems so far. I think I only got the update after moaning on Acer Africa's twitter and facebook pages. :)

A bit related to the topic, but my A500 is still stuck on 3.0.1 since I got it almost a year ago, there is an update available, but it fails/ gets corrupted/something EVERY TIME I try updating it. I also tried downloading an update via PC but it just flat out refuses to work with it.

This is apparently a problem with this version, but I just can't get it to update. Has anyone found any links on rooting/loading custom roms or just getting an update to run on 3.0.1(I found several guides for other versions but something in them make them not work for this one)?
