IDE Ports & DFI Lanparty mobo

My DFI Lanparty UT nF4 SLI-DR Expert mobo does not detect any of my three optical drives (DVD Burners and DVD Rom). Also, it does not detect any of my IDE hard drives. The machine is running from 2x Hitachi H/D in Raid 0 created with another identical mobo.
Any ideas?

Come to think of it, how would you install an operating system if you only had an IDE H/D and optical drives and the mobo did not detect it?

Have you checked the jumpers on the drives are set correctly: 1 slave, 1 master per IDE cable?
 
did you take those 2 drives out raid before adding them?

also how can u afford this mobo but still be using ide drives?
 
Are you sure that all the drives on each IDE cable have power? I recently built a pc, and unplugged a CDROM to see if my other drive was coming up properly, and suddenly nothing detected on that cable. Turns out some new bioses don't detect anything if you have a setup with some stuff missing power Oo

I am looking for a suitable SATA DVD burner that does not conflict with my SATA RAID setup. Have read many stories of problems (Tom's Hardware, Googling etc). Merely want to install programes until I have my SATA DVD burner.

Yes, even tried deliberately setting the drive incorrectly. I found this as a solution to someone else's problem on the DFI site...Strange...

Yes, I could see the the led momentarily lit during posting. However, it would not finish POST until I removed either the IDE cable (tried three different nes) or the power connector...Weird..

Tried again today, flashed the CMOS, reset the BIOS and tried a total of 4 different drives (H/D and DVD/CDR) with 3 IDE cables. These were connected to each IDE port. I give up.

If only I can find a SATA DVD burner that is gaurenteed to work with my mono.....

Yes, the machine I am having to run for e-mail etc. had those drives fitted. They were removed, installed on the DFI mobo (were not detected), removed and re-installed into the machine they were oroginally taken from - they then worked!
 
Have you got any drives at all to work on the new mobo? If not, then the mobo might be faulty or the drives that you do have are somehow incompatible with it :confused:

I believe that the ports on this mobo are faulty BUT, as this is the 3rd DFI mobo, I am not going to change it. Reasons being, it is very stable, it's temperatures are ±5 degrees cooler than the other two mobos...AND the BIOS is very scary! (Read over clockable!)
