At home my wife only uses her computer for Skype ,Face Book and a small amount of internet surfing 2 GB are more than enough What is the cheapest way to go .It bugs the hell out of me that I am forced to have a phone line I don't need

If you are covered by Cell C HSPA+ , then its a no brainer

R1499 once off for 2gig for 12 months

You might have coverage / latency issues with Cell C, but it is most definitely the cheapest offer that you'll get.

There are usually wireless ISP's that can offer more or less the same monthly rates, but it's usually quite a big installation cost (like R1000+).
