So i am busy contracting at a large client but all the work has kinda run out. They pay us loads of $$$ so i am quite happy to stay here.
The problem is that i am so de-motivated. I cant wake up in the mornings, dont feel like coming into work ect ect?

Surfing the web 8 hours straight a day can get kinda boaring.

Do you have any ideas out there on how to get the brain juices flowing again?

Start your own projects on your downtime during work dude.

And tell me ... are there any jobs open? I won't mind spending 8 hours a day on the net and getting paid for it. I'd sure as hell make sure I spend time on my own stuff so when I walk out there richer I walk out there richer ....

I'm in the same position.

That's what you think. At first it's lekker, but it's painfully boring and deadening after a while.

Why are they still employing and paying you if the work has run out?

I am in the same position and unfortunately I not a contractor so I am really considering in getting a new job! This is killing me! Before I started with my current job, I was really grafting, but this is killing me. I really hate my current position!

Not if you keep yourself entertained by having your own projects running. Learning new things. Reading new things. I love information. I love challenging myself to try and be better at what I already am.

so if there's no work & I get paid to do "nothing" then I sure as hell will sit with my own stuff figuring things out, playing a web based game on and off and trying to make more money by doing *something*

If they lay claim to your own projects at work it doesn't matter. They paid for your time to develop them anyway. So i'm more than happy to give it to them.

I walk away with the knowledge & experience of doing it. No TOS or NDC can get that out of my head

I've been doing this for 2 years. It gets boring, trust me.

I'm not really working on my own projects at work because of the risk, but they can't lay claim to it because I started these project long before I started working at my current employer.

Maybe read some books. I can recommend Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation.

Was in the same boat. Would contract out to clients but when project would end had to report back to head-office and sit around until the next project came along. Hated waking up. Hated sitting in peak traffic just to go and sit and do bugger all. I simply quit.

But you're probably not as crazy as I am...so I'd say use the company time and money, sign-up for various courses under the company's annual training budget (by law each employee must have allocated training for each year...but i know many companies ignore this)....
