Identify weed and recommend a weedkiller

So I have these two pests invading the lawn.
Does anyone know what they are called and recommend a weedkiller.
I'm concerned though that a weedkiller may kill off the surround grass as well?

ChatGPT says its white clover and black medic / lesser trefoil (Medicago lupulina on the second pic, but I dont think the second one is right?

Any broad leaf killer or weed control. Just do it during rainy season so other grass can grow

Honestly, if it's not got any thorns, let it grow... Lawns aren't natural, plus you may end up needing to dig it out anyway.

The weed in the second picture gives thorns, I just pull it out when they grow big

Just get the broadleaf mix from Grasses and Greens Supplies.
I have had all kinds of weeds. Spray with a knapsack sprayer once per month for 3 months, and that kak is gone.

Been there, done that.

Easy to pull by hand if you find the main root for each bunch. Hire a 'noweeds' for a few days or DIY?

Got my top engineer on it but its no easy task....

The problem with weeding by hand is getting the whole root removed. If I have to work the soil, then I do weeding as part of that process, but weeds grow everywhere.

Both of those are nearly impossible to maintain by manual removal. Both are beneficial to the soil though so not the worst weed to have.

If you set your mower on a high setting the longer grass will make it difficult for the clover and when you mow you will cut most of their leaves off making it hard for them to compete with the grass.
