Yo guys,

A recruitment agency has asked me for the following copies:

Recent payslip
Matric Certificate
Other certificates / qualifications
ID and drivers licence
Recent professional photo
References

I am very paranoid when it comes to personal information like this. I've read a lot of companies sell their data.

Don't send them anything. They should be able to get you a job without all that information.

very valid request for information,

I watermark a copy of my ID, qualifications and all other relevant info before submitting ANYTHING.

that way its of less use to these clown called recruiters.

and I stay even more paranoid after submitting anything to them.

Nah. I can understand they require basic info, such as date of birth and names.

No company requires copies of my certificates/ID, unless we are at an advance stage of interviewing, and an offer is pending.

certinly the case, but many I dealt with wont move an inch without a ID copy,
they want to submit criminal and credit checks constantly.
before they even consider you for anything.

what I did was send it as a watermarked copy, bit harder for them to do nefarious things with it.
I know its not foolproof, but its better than nothing. and just giving theives enough info to open bank accounts in your name ect...
