I'm seriously regretting my purchase of a Rapidshare account. I know I'm a newbie to this but I can't understand how my 5 gigs get used up.
I had 2 gigs in my download queue this morning -now when I get back from work the download is NOT complete and I see there is only 40MB left on my limit!
I have checked the IP in my log and it is only my pc downloading.
To top it all I have a slow (384) line so even if the download queue is 10 gig it is impossible for me to download 5 gig in 8 hours! And I have checked with my ISP I have only d/l 1gig today!
I found this on Rapidshare FAQ:
""Download Managers cause additional data traffic, e.g. if you download a large file in parallel parts, as opposed to downloading the whole file at once. This results in more data traffic than corresponds to the size of the file. The more such parallel streams are initiated, the more additional traffic is generated. RapidShare accurately logs the data traffic that leaves our own network.""
What does this mean?

Did you go online and check your logs and its only one IP adress I use my rshare and I cant see on average that it uses more then I dloaded, what did happen to me is some prick managed to get my username and pass from my browser and raped my 25 gigs in half a day, needles to say firefox does not remember my passwords anymore

My RS account was also hacked a couple of months ago and RS sent me an e-mail advising me of this and blocked the account & proceeded to issue me with new details - which was good. Yes Firefox never remembers those details.

yes only my IP

I use RS with IDM successfully silkman, may I suggest you try FDM.

do u use maximum connections in settings or only 1?

Hey silkman, my settings are 1 dload @ a time. I'm on Neo Prime and I get an average of 1meg. So a 100meg file comes through in about +- 12 min. FDM was my preferred dloader as IDM used to mess my dloads when I initially got Neotel, but I see IDM has started working again recently. Rather set your dlaods to 1 dload instead of IDM's default of 4 or 5 at a time. Maybe that's stuffing your bw up.

Try FDM for while to compare :)

Rapidshare sucks. MegaUpload doesn't limit you like this.

Also try JDownloader, better than the rest.

yeah well, good luck with "those" chicks....you call them chicks....i'll call them "shemales"
:)

I checked, they're real chicks. ;)

I just mosey with my Macpro under my arm and sit down and wear my turtlneck sweater :) and horn rimmed glasses and scowl, and they just love it.
The tripple iced-Frapucchino helps too. I then tell them how cool I am and show them my macpro. They are putty in my hands. Then I use my iPhone 3GS to
get their number. Next step is to take them down to my Mini Cooper Convertible Sport edition and they're mine. bwahaahaha! ;)
