Hi there,

I read in one of the many pdf docs supplied by IDS that it is possible to map two separate buttons on a remote to arm/disarm two seperate zones.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to configure it. Does anyone know how to get this working. I already have the one button arming and disarming zone 1 and another for the dedicated panic signal. I gave up after setting off the panic signal the 2nd time.

Any help will be appreciated.

Is the alarm partitioned?
Are the remotes connected to an outboard receive?
Do you have a keyswitch zone?

I suppose if I can't answer all of your questions, this might be beyond me.

By partitioned, I have the internal house PIRs and magnets on zone 1 and 2 external beams and the main gate sensor on zone 2. So I guess, yes, partitioned.

There is a small black box ontop of the panel for the remotes. So yes, external receiver. I can confirm the remotes by going into the programming menu and pressing 29.

What is a key switch zone?

I was told no it can not.

So we installed a strobe light inside the garage which shows wheather the system is activated or not. I still do think it's possible, but I cant remember the installer excuse on why it cant be.

Basic operation:
Create user code for partition 1 only and then link it to button 1
Create user code for partition 2 only and then link it to button 2

For Partition 1
  • Hold down the * key until it beeps
  • Enter the master code then *
  • Enter 0 * (Add User Code)
  • Create a new user code then *
  • Press # then enter 20 * (Add Remote Basic)
  • Enter 1 *
  • Enter the code you created and then *
  • Press * again and press and hold the number 1 button until it says confirming then success.
  • Press #

For Partition 2
  • In the option menu, Enter 0 * (Add User Code)
  • Create a new code then *
  • Enter 11 * (Allocate a User Code to a Partition)
  • Enter the code you created then *
  • Disable partition 1 and 3-8 and only leave partition 2 enabled
  • Press #
  • Enter 21 * (Add Remote Advanced)
  • Enter 1 *
  • Enter the code you created again then *
  • Enter 2 * for button 2
  • Enter * again then press and hold the number 2 button until it says confirming then success.
  • Press ## to exit

Is their a radio on your alarm system. Use a Pgm output to a relay to operate your strobe

In IDS-speak, you need to have them configured in 2 partitions. I'm assuming this is what you've done. We have a similar setup - house on Partition 1 outdoor and outbuildings on Partition 2. Our remotes are set up with one button to arm/disarm Partition 1, one to stay arm Partition 1, one to arm/disarm Partition 2 and one panic. So it is possible. It was done be the techies from the armed response company, who worked fast and I didn't follow everything.

The IDS alarm can also be hooked up to the Hyyp App, which is a little clunky, but does the job.

To be honest, the IDS manual reminds me a bit of X80 Assembly and why I'm relieved that I don't need to remember any of it.
